WebAfrica Capped ADSL

We have a WA 60GB capped package at home but the router isn't mine to configure, and I also had trouble accessing myBB and a few other sites.

I set Google DNS servers on my wireless adapter settings and presto! Good as new :)
 
I wonder if WA Helper will shed some light as to why this was necessary to start of with.
 
also experiencing DNS issues, and sites like Zando just not being resolved for long periods of time, while other sites like Youtube resolve no problem. Come on WA :/
 
Welp, screw it. Every day a download comes down between 5-6am, every day it gets counted as 6-7am and deducted from my Anytime balance, so I lose between 30-60gb a month because WA can't properly track usage. That's downright theft.

One rude, canned support reply and auto-closed ticket and one completely ignored ticket later, it's clear you don't want to resolve this issue and keep my business either, so I'm taking it elsewhere.
 
Ugh, seems DNS still an issue?
Large chunks of the the internet have been intermittently unavailable for the last few days for me. Is WA looking at this?

It's ironic isn't it?

Usually you have ISP's doing their utmost to at least appear to be serious about customer service, when the product they selling, often relying heavily on Telkom's aging infrastructure, is hampered and sub standard.

WA's after sales service is nothing short of pathetic though!! I'm just glad I generally have little to no performance issues with their product!!

To those having issues try changing your router/network adapter DNS settings to openDNS, primary 208.67.222.222, secondary 208.67.220.220.

Check your changes have taken via cmd

run>cmd>nslookup

Are these problems experienced only to local sites?
My site is hosted locally and one of the members are having issues. He does use WA as his ISP. The 8.8.8.8 address did resolve his problem.
 
Why anyone would use their ISPs dns servers is beyond me. Haven't done that in years.
 
I was frustrated with Afrihost's youtube streaming and general google slowness, so I signed up for a business capped package and am very impressed. I've been using google's dns 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 right from the off though, on account of what's being discussed here.

I was always under the assumption that they were the fastest as they are local, but I see google is also local and using them from now on (not that I had any issues).

Fair enough if you are talking about the 5% of ADSL users that know how to change this. The other 95% pay their monthly fees and expect it to work and not to be expected to tinker with settings to get it to work properly.

WA should get their act together and fix the problem. Users should not be required to fiddle to get it to work in the first place. It's alright for us folks who knows how to sort it out but a problem for the other 95% :)
 
Honestly, I've had great service from Web Africa up until this point. What I find odd is that they continue to insist it's congestion or other things when a quick browse of this thread would reveal that's not the case and that it's wide-spread enough not to be PEBKAC issue.

Out of interest, what is WA DNS server's IP's? Is it the normal IS server 168.210.2.2?
