WebAfrica Capped ADSL

It's going to be interesting downloading the Windows 10 update file at 16KB/s - could take a while ..........

If you could download it any faster some business would cry because they are struggling to load Facebook :p Home-capped peasant!

Once the kids are back at school I will re-enable the scheduler in Tomato to run Vox during the day and Webafrica from 5pm to 6am. Hopefully the 100GB Vox account will be kinder on the Windows updates.

Let me know how that Vox account performs, really considering it with that super special price. I'll just miss my midnight data if I switch over :(

I downgraded my WA account to the next one down (120GB) as the 220GB between the 2 accounts plus night time data should be enough. Will have to make a plan during the December holidays when the kids are home..

Yeah I don't know whats going on with WA but its fast becoming unusable. Having to stream at 480p/medium on a 20mb line using business capped? I'm even getting 170 ping to local gaming servers now too. WTH is going on?!

Hi,

Sorry to hear that :( Please PM me your account details so I can have a look for you.

I'm getting a wonderful 30Kb/s on Windows update today. This shaping is insane. In the evening it flies. I think WA should consider calling it an off-peak capped account, because this is a joke :/

Getting an earth shattering 100 kB/s out of my 20mb line on youtube videos.

Webafrica helper?

Hi,

Thanks for the tracert results. I've taken a look at your speed test results to JHB and you're right your ping is extremely high: 107ms. I've dropped you a PM, please check it out and keep me posted.

Free download plus speed on a 10 megabit/s line with well seeded downloads. Near full speed is only reached after 3am

Just wanted to give a shout out to the lads and lasses at WA support. Really appreciate the help you guys have been giving me this week and the quick responses around other issues that occurred. Special mention to Tracy, Zubar and MK, keep it up guys/gals!

Hi Bedford,

Thank you for the shout out. You are proof of how awesome our customers are. I've passed this onto the rest of our team :D

I see the 'Medium' issue from yesterday is still open and Im getting next to nothing down on my capped 'pro' account. When are we expecting this issue to be resolved?

I've also experienced a significant degrading in speed on a 10mb capped account recently. Videos really struggle to stream and downloads going very slow. I think it is about time to check out voxs special and give my notice. For over a year I barely experience shaping, now it seems to be most of the day for the past while. This game of rotating ISPs get very tiresome and frustrating always trying to find one that will provide a reliable service for more than a few months at a time. So far, I have tried five ISPs and they all degrade a capped account afterwhile.

Last night I left my router on my prepaid Afrihost account. Torrents started at midnight and went straight to 10mbit/s, unlike on WebAfrica Free Download plus when it nudges 10mbit/s after 3am....

Can webafrica comment if this is to be the new norm? I have heard from many people that they are having the same experience as me. When Afrihost, who I moved from because of terrible service, is outperforming you, you know you have a problem.

No download speed issues on my side. I'm on a home capped pro account. I have been downloading games from Xbox live between 12am and 6am at full speed the last couple of nights. My video streaming in the evenings is also performing well. I'm in Joburg and sync at 6 meg.
