WebAfrica Capped ADSL

Unable to stream Medium quality on Twitch. Getting to point where I probably need to change ISP's
 
All the download community are moving ship I see. Time to kick WA to the curb

Was good while it lasted, cheers boys!
 
Had the same last night, well seeded torrents (Windows 10 RTM 10240) only hitting full speed at 01:40am

If I make use of Afrihost Prepaid I get fullspeed from 00:00

I wish I could say the same.

I have a 20MB line and was down to 319Kb (average) during DL+ time. Max was 1.3MB for one of seven downloads.
 
I am going from 10mbps to 40mbps at the end of the month, if I don't get 40mbps in DL+ I don't see why I should stick around. Might as well go uncapped.
 
Wow, just signed up for a vox account this morning and instantly all my speeds went up to full speed. A couple sites I had been trying to stream from the past couple days with no success, instantly kicked in and worked perfectly. Good bye Web Africa. Even Torrents are working at reasonable speeds in the middle of the morning. This is how Web Africa used to work awhile back, but no more.
 
Yeah I'm also thinking Vox is the way to go if things don't shape up (pun intended). Seems everyone does the same dance.
Mweb->Afrihost->Web Africa->Vox->Rinse->Repeat
 
Do Vox offer access to their own news server, or will I need to access Astra ?
 
News servers store data encoded in 7bit blocks, so when you download a file you actually download more data than needed. Best to avoid news servers and opt for a modern solution.

I use both, but for series I find locally-stored news servers to be more convenient.

Iv had no issues streaming or downloading. Ironically enough I was having some issues connecting to my minecraft server during the day, which they are busy resolving. Its way to early to jump ship, in my opinion.

I know that is is Capped thread, but cannot found the uncapped thread. I just need to share someting here about Webafrica

I/m on uncapped 10meg line since June 2015. My downloads on Torrents were about 100/350kb/ps during evenings right!
I have cancelled WA since 12-07/2015. Apparently my subscription runs till Aug 2015, no prob. But funny enought, my torrents have changed to 700/950 kb/ps??????? Is this a way to keep me here, because I see this as false advertisement, and a way of manipulating the downlaods!!!!

But still cancelling, cause during day the youtube is very bad. They have a funny way of trying to keep you with them?????????

Hi Chris,

We've done an improvement on our network, hence speeds are a bit better. Moreover, your star rating plays a huge role during office hours because if you're on 3, 2 or 1 star rating your connection will be deprioritised during normal office hours.
 
I find it somewhat retarded that NNTP traffic is shaped INTO THE GROUND while I can fire up a HTTP download at 1050 KB/sec no problem

edit : oh NNTP I'm lucky if I get 100 KB/sec

Pathetic really, considering I am on a CAPPED ACCOUNT :mad:
 
They better not start varking around with the HTTP and FTP downloads. It is the only g'damn reason I went for capped. Any way, next month I'll be using my Vox Fat Pip with 125GB and see how that works.

Hi,

NNTP and FTP downloads are shaped but if there's enough space on our network then they should be faster. Moreover, there's an imrpovement on our network at the moment.

Clearly there is not enough "space" on your network then when looking at the levels you shape nntp during office hours.

I follow good products and will have no hesitation canceling my service. I'm not going through another Afrihost rollercoaster ride.

Never again.
