I'm sorry you feel this way :( That's why were shaping certain protocols for now - so we can make sure there's enough space for more important protocols and to ensure our customers receive a fast, quality and sustainable online experience at all times.
 
Hey WA. Moved to you guys from Afrihost last week. All cool up till today. I've also logged a call with Adam at helpdesk, and he is very friendly and helpful. My concern is that on my 40meg VDSL line, saix.net speedtest gets so close to 40meg (35-36mb/s) range when testing. Trying to download NTP, spikes to 3.7mbs, then seconds later it bogs down to 1mb/s, and hovers around this figure. Next, I'm trying to download a 50 gig file via HTTP. Using download manger, my max download rate has dropped to around 400kb/s.

Something seriously wrong here guys? Downloading a 50 gig file, that would have taken 5 or so hours, will only be done downloading tomorrow evening 11:00PM. Not cool...

Good Bye Web Africa, get your cancellations in before the month end to avoid the calendar month trap.

It's not about the price, it's about the quality. Seeing that even buisness capped users are noticing shaping is a no-no. Windows updates crawling at such speeds is indefensible. If I wanted cheap and nasty then Afrihost is still there and easier to deal with but life's too short for bad connectivity.

Next Up VOX FatPipe? CW? who serves up decent capped internet around 50-100 Gigs per month?
 
I actually slipped up with regards to the cancellations. I used to keep my account on permanent cancellation notice and then just before the end of the month I would revert the cancellation and then cancel again. In effect I could exit at the end of every month. However last month I forgot to revert, it cancelled and I created a new account which will only cancel at the end of next month.

But that is how one works with these types of accounts. Always keep it on cancel requested.

Right now I have a Vox Fat Pipe but first I am burning through the 20GB prepaid I have on Afrihost. It works surprisingly well.

This is not personal, it is business.

Look at this? Would you accept this if you were in my position? What REALLY gets to me is that this was at 23h29 last night. So I am basically getting 15% of my line speed.

Either I get a clear and definite answer on a solution, otherwise I am cancelling my account right away. Im NOT prepared to pay R300 for CAPPED data that is shaped into the ground.

For R312, from VOX, you can get a 100gb fatpipe account + a fatpipe lite 25gb with bolt-on.

Do it soon, offer expires month end on the 100gb fatpipe.

You joke, but in reality that is how it works. Heavy users tend to follow the deals, and usually with that the network goes to crap.

Judging by the amount of people flocking from Afrihost, I suspect they will have the most stable network in South Africa in 6 months time :p

VOX doubled their capacity to take advantage of Telkoms IPC discounts. How much additional traffic do you think would be required to cripple VOX's network?
 
I am wall aware that Vox won't last. I've been in this game for some time now. Mweb->Afrihost->WebAfrica->Vox ... it never stops.

a few gbps, around 1 or 2gbps before their network starts getting congested. I'm monitoring my smokeping graphs to their IPC though, so as soon as contentions start rising I'll know.
