WebAfrica Capped ADSL

Nah been like this for months, only bothering to post it now. I've got weeks worth of graphs showing our WSUS hating life during business hours but full stream between 01:00 and 08:00

I noticed that at exactly 8am this morning my connection started having issues. So to me that sounds like a config issue on their side, which needs a little tweaking.

I am not impressed with my latency in wow. Using another account fixes the issue. On WA it fluctuates between 200 and 1000. I havent used my WA account for quite some time and when I started using it again yesterday it worked well for a couple of hours and then went to pot.

Leaving raids because of latency is enough to make me grumpy.

Don't worry guys. It's the just the South again. #justsouththings

Any traffic getting routed to JHB gets borked. I Got a 20mb business capped account.

Trace complete.

Hi image132,

I've escalated this issue to a senior in our ADSL team and he'll be in touch to find our what's causing this issue.

Hi jouda,

Can you please PM me your trace route and speed test results so I can investigate this issue?

anybody know if webafrica is shaping windows updates? been downloading windows 10 since 8am this morning and its done 10%, i just switched over to afrihost and i have done another 10% in 10min

Is Durbanville/Kenridge area borked ? I've not had problems with WA for a few months until this morning. 4 Meg line:

My VOX account runs fullspeed. I'd rather not use VOX because I am losing rollover data when I still have lots of data left on my WA capped account.

All good now.

Yeah, I'm getting ~0.9 Mbps on a 20Mb line for windows updates right now. Was even worse on my Afrihost account though. 16% after 3hrs+.

its annoying first NNTP cant download **** on that anymore soon it will be http, https, ftp and then after that we will get webafrica load shedding of bandwidth.

I would leave webafrica but since iam leaving the country in 2 months i suppose no point

i am on 70% now on afrihost and that took around 1hr and a half. web africa took 6 hours to do 10%

Being on Home Capped any NNTP download normally runs at <= 35 KB during the day.

When I went out this morning the download was running normally, i.e. <= 35 KB.

Then (according to SABnzbd) there were some flashes (mainly between noon and 13h00) where I started downloading at > 2MB.

Now I'm back to averaging 55 KB, which is still higher than "normal".

This is exciting stuff guys :D

58kbs on a 10mb line at 9pm here. But don't worry Web Africa support claim they only shape during business hours. And ignore any question relating to if the degradation(or new shaping policies) in their network is permanent.

I'm on 60KB ... but then I have a 20MB line :)

i'm on 130 kb/s..on a 10mb line...

just as worse even after business hours.
the whole point of a capped account was to avoid this crap
