WebAfrica Capped ADSL

Thank you

To the new WAHelper - thanks so much for taking an active interest in the forums. It is great to know we have easy access to you - keep up the good work

Guys can you pop me a PM with your details and I will get our team to look into this.

No issues on our network so I need to get them to investigate it.

Thx for the PM, here's an example of me trying to watch a video on YT atm (no other devices on the network, I disabled Wi-Fi on the router to make sure).

Thanks for providing some extra info. I our team has been trying to call but say that the number goes straight to voicemail. Can you PM a different number perhaps.

Hey WebAfrica Helper

I've been running on Telkom the last 2 years but signed up to WebAfrica for the "Double your data" promotion you guys started.

I'd like to cancel my Telkom Uncapped and switch over completely to WebAfrica, but I'm afraid that my 400GB will get halved back to the original 200GB once I do.
What's the status on the double data... are you guys keeping it or is it only for 3 months?

I'm really digging you guys and would love to switch over completely.

What is the difference between Home Capped Pro and Business Capped (non-Pro) these days? Looks like the same thing, but is there some underlying time-of-day thing?

Hi Web Africa

I am really struggling to upgrade my line. It seems for every ticket I log i wait about 3 days for a response.
Really need a status update.

Thanks

They reserve the decision to extend or terminate.

Can confirm +- same experience upgrading an existing DSL line managed by WebAfrica in July 2016 .
Having a new second line installed that will be managed by Telkom to solve the "unsolvable" after 8 working days with WA.
In this case Telkom did their bit in less than 24 hrs, WA never had their part solved.
Worst of all, even if all worked, WA would only change your line profile once a month at the end/start of month.

Possible solution.
1. Approaching 2 decades, I always advised, the line must be installed, managed and you pay the owner of the cable. In za that is Telkom mostly. A pain and challenge at times. At least you know where the buck stop.
2. Then choose from whom you want the bandwidth. In this case WA.

I wish WA get their act together.

Client/ Affiliate of/for WA since 2010.

If you're up for it you can Register and Cancel this month and use the account until end-September. (1 calendar month cancellation notice).

If WA extend then just renew/reactivate your service for October..

Anyone having some serious issues tonight? Seems like upload is almost dead, to the point where http requests are barely going through...

Streaming, browsing and Steam downloading fine on my side. Managed 1080p on youtube with 4mbps line.

Me. I randomly have issues throughout the day with latency spikes on LoL and GW2, ping tests/tracerts are fine though.

Yeah tracerts are fine so it's not a routing issue, but that's using ICMP and not TCP like GW2.

WebAfrica Helper any ideas why this could be happening - are you guys doing anything over port 6112?

It straight up is a routing issue with Web Africa. Mweb had the same problem a while back with using an AWFUL node in the international routing specifically on the London Exchange. 170-190ms to london from cape town. Unacceptable when Mweb, Crystal Web, Afrihost, Axxess all get 150ms.

Mweb fixed that awful node choice and magically half the gamers in SA got back to low latency international gaming. Web Africa and Telkom have been embarrassing with their routing. Like I am here for a friend to try get the same fix that I forced with Mweb. After hounding Mweb tech reps they fixed the problem within 2 days. I still can't fathom how a 'gaming' ISP hasn't picked up and rectified poor routing.

Here is the node/address from a tracert that was causing problems on the London Exchange :inx.as6663.net. The traceroute would bounce around London getting low latency 150ms then suddenly land on the LINX node and jump to 180ms before even heading to international gaming servers in Europe.

Mweb fixed this problem by switching the Edge3/4 range nodes and bam! 150ms and 160ms to the rest of Europe. I hope Web Africa can do the same or find an equivalent solution.

Streaming and Youtube borked as of last night for me. Youtube can only handle 480 and other streams below 3.1mb.

Not good enough

Anyone with 20mbps+ lines, how is the shaping on the home capped accounts these days?

Edit: Never mind, just tested myself
