WebAfrica Capped ADSL

Quick question, what's the use of putting my Credit Card information into my customer zone? I see no way of making a payment there? I need to pay my invoices but cannot see any way other than doing a manual EFT and uploading a proof of payment, is this the norm or am I missing something?

Edit: I see they say a CC payment will work if you had your info saved first then make a purchase.
Guess I have to do an EFT for the current unpaid invoice?

Fokhol tried today as well and gave up, running on Vox now.

So god damn tempted for all that afrihost data!!!! But I'm not entirely ready to forgive them/him yet.
Cmon Thor, forgive them :D or wjat about Crystal Web?

Thanks, on black ops 3 and Teamspeak my ping is 200 constant, but when doing a tracert everything seems normal?
Also on TS constantly while jamming and average 25ms. Where is your TS server? Mine is in Cape Town.

Maybe congestion on your exchange? But you say tracert looks fine so you would have picked this up already.

My ping is also normally on 25ms for a Cape Town server. Haven't been on today, will test during the weekend and find the problem:D

So are capped accounts shaped, I am currently looking for an new isp. What's the difference between home and business capped accounts, I do use p2p, but this is for work purposes, I do game beta testing, so most updates are delivered from the developer via p2p

They are shaped "best effort" for p2p for all accounts. Other protocols like FTP will be less shaped on the business accounts. I'd recommend trying Afrihost as their capped accounts are unshaped.

I am currently with Axxess, but their support is a bit slow to get things done

I've never needed support with Afrihost so I can't comment. With WA you can wait for over 24hours for someone to answer your ticket.
Crystalweb has really good support - they will be dropping their prices this coming week though :)

There was a time that WA support was great - now it is very hit and miss and if you read some posts you will see that it is a rather unpleasant experience.

Thankfully I have not needed any support for a while so can't comment from recent first hand experience

Can anyone tell me the difference between between Home Capped Pro and Business Capped?
They're the same price, offer the same caps, and according to their website sit in the same prioritisation tier.

I did contact WA with this query, however the response was less than helpful:
Please provide your telkom landline number and we will able to check your maximum line speed.

What the hell does your line speed have to do with the difference between the two packages?

I bet that they have a sheet with random replies. Not the first time I've experienced this!

I asked them this same thing on live chat a few weeks ago. They said it's exactly the same thing, no protocol preferences or anything, it just depends on whether you want your invoice to say "Business" or "Pro".

Lately I'm getting heavy lagg spikes in CS:GO on my WebAfrica Business uncapped account (to the Mweb servers in Jhb). Like it would suddenly just climb from 30ms to 1500ms. Restarting it sometimes solves the issue for a couple of minutes, but I've also had it that it remain at like 200ms.

The icmp/udp traceroutes doesn't show anything out of the ordinary:

I'm finding quite the opposite in CSGO, my ping is actually decreasing because of heavy packet loss, like >60%!
Cycling the modem seems to help for an hour or 2.

I find myself resetting the modem twice a night :(
And yes I've tried with a different modem. Going to test another account to see if the issue persists.

The main differences are the way our bandwidth is prioritised. Take a look at our bandwidth priority profiles to see where our Business capped accounts fit. P2P are listed as best effort on all our account profiles but it will perform better on our business accounts.

Hi guys

Please PM me your account details so I can get our team investigate and pass onto our Network team.

I am busy testing a home capped pro and my few days (excluding last night due to no telkom line) is that for news server it flies during the day and crawls at night. It is almost like home capped crawls during the day and works well to perfect after hours and the home pro is the opposite.

The home pro is terrible for DL after hours. I would have thought if it works great during the day it should be awesome after hours.

Browsing is a pleasure

YMMV but in my limited testing it sometimes appears that problems (downloading) might well lie with the WA/IS NNTP server.

A download that will trickle down from the local server can frequently fly when downloaded from an overseas source.
