webafrica uncapped and wow

hey guys,

anyone used webafrica uncapped to connect to and play wow, like questing, raiding, instances, etc...

i get great pings on my normal webafrica home account, and i was wondering if the uncapped would be similar?

Should be, I don't raid anymore, but on the off time I played on this account it was great. Same can be said for my friend, who still raids 10man on the same line. You can technically expect the same latency on the uncapped account that you do on the capped account.
 
although currently my pricing for my home account is about the same as the uncapped would be, things are about to change once the 3 month reduced subscription special ends. so i'm actually quite interested in swapping over to uncapped.

Tinuva -your post in the webafrica uncapped flame-thread, the one with the pic of the webafrica usage console - almost convinced me to go uncapped because it looks quite easy to monitor usage, and i don't think i would exceed the limitations.

i say almost convinced me, because my only concern would be an increase in latency from a wow point of view. if i could get the wife to stick to the rules about AUP/FUP then i might have found a winner uncapped package. all of the other isp's uncapped offerings i tried were way below standard for wow latency.

i currently average between 210 and 250 ms on my home capped account. occasionally it dips below 200, with the best I've seen at around 190 ms.

If it's contended then I'm not sure it will be the same (similar).

looks damn solid to me. i cant make it out clearly when i watch in full screen, and its too small in normal view, but is that 289ms throughout the fight? because thats almost exactly the same latency i get on my home account...

my assumption is that the same network is used for both home capped and home uncapped accounts, do you know if this assumption is correct?
 
Starts at 183ms, then as I charge in, jumps up to 189ms and stays like that throughout the whole fight.

If you view the video in 720p you can see the text more clearly.

Maybe if I learned how to do video editing I could zoom into the latency bar, or just zoom that part, but I haven't acquired those skills yet.

I must add that I have Leatrix applied in that video, and making use of no proxy service.

Which webafrica account did you use to get the 183? Was it on the uncapped or the capped. And if capped witch data package or data did you use? Thanks.

That was while connected to a Home Uncapped 4 Mbps account on a 4 Mbps line. I must however note that I stay in Cape Town where Web Africa's network is.
 
9 days and counting then I will have some data from JHB to add to this.

You can add 20 to 38ms to those figures (From Pretoria that is).
 
Switched to my uncapped last night. 3 machines playing WoW at the same time plus sickbeard downloading something and my lat was between 195 and 220. This was from 18:00 to about 23:00
 
How badly does surfing affect latency Crowley? What can I expect if some1 is surfing and I am raiding on a 1mbps line.
 
I have a 4mb connection and I am browsing while playing with dual screens. Youtube etc stream with no problems but I think it may make a difference on a 1mb line.
 
Can't wait for the new year, then I'm also switching to WebAfrica uncapped. Sweetness! Sick of the terrible AUP I'm getting with Axxess, plus saving R50 bucks every month will add up.

Has anyone tried the 384 line in comparison to other ISP's? This is all I can afford atm, so hoping they are better. During the free offpeak time from midnight to 6am, does the line run at usual full speed for downloads or anyone getting throttled during this time?
 
I'm over my limit just about every day so I'm permanently throttled but WoW stays at ~200 lat.
