WeChat. What's the verdict?

Both numbers needs to be provisioned for this service (most numbers should be already)
Both users needs to be on the 3G network
Both users needs a video calling capable handset (just because a phone has a front facing camera ... does not automaticaly mean it is capable of a video call I think).

We have two people here on S2`s. Both in 3g coverage. Both phones have the function for a video call. Its not working.

It's the best IM app and it's only fitting that they got the best footballer on their campaign. I'm glad that they're marketing this app so strongly. It needs greater penetration to shaft the much over-rated whatsapp. For me personally, it's going to be a tough call between WeChat and BBM for iOS in the near future.

It took 2 years for people to realise their BB 8520 Curves were absolute dog #### along with BBM and they eventually moved over to whatsapp. I doubt people will move again unless something drastic happens

Don't agree. Everybody I know, and myself, are waiting with anticipation for BBM on android/iphone. Wish they would hurry up with it. Whatsapp is OK but the emoticons suck and it's just not as friendly as bbm, imo
If Blackberry produce a decent bbm app for android and iphone I can see a lot of people will use it rather than whatsapp.
I've got WeChat but I don't really know anyone who uses it...

Of my 306 contacts...2 have WeChat. If I shake my phone, all I get is some skimpy-dressed Oriental-looking girl.

WhatsApp has saved me a ton of money and all my friends use it. Hell, we even have groups where 10 friends can chat/share stuff together.
