Weed advice

Here's a novel idea.

Why don't all three of you smoke it up together?

That conveys a sense of your understanding of the situation but also means you have a real footing to comment on the situation after the fact and lay down the new rules whatever they may be.

The number one reason I didn't listen to my parents about this stuff is because I felt they had no idea what they were talking about, maybe of they approached it in this manner I would have looked differently at it.

We also tend to only want to do the things we know are wrong, when we aren't doing something wrong it's not all that exciting and we tend to not bother with it.

You must be lying..

Nobody who smokes weed can be a productive member of society...... its just not possible. All they ever do is veg out and get the munchies and then move onto harder drugs... don't you know this?

Uhm you are implying that someone who smokes weed does so 24/7/365 which simply isn't the case.

That's like saying someone who uses sleeping tablets can't have a life because they'll be permanently asleep.

Same would apply to people who drink.

Having one glass of wine every other day is hardly a problem, having a bottle every night is a different story.

It's not what's being used, it's how it's being used. You could have a hard drug habit like cocaine and still be perfectly productive, in fact I know plenty of people who do coke on a regular basis yet you would never even know they do.

I would be surprised if half your acquaintances smoke weed regularly and you aren't even aware of it.

******

Sorry sarcasm meter kicked in a bit late above. Either way the statement still stands for anyone who really does think like that, of which there are plenty.

If it were my 16 yr old child I would not endorse the use of cannabis. Frankly, I would probably set the rules and any breach will be met with punishment. Astounds me how blasé people seem to be round these parts regarding this drug. Is it simply easier to be your kid's pal than to discipline? No wonder the youth are a lost generation. /flame suit on :D

As someone who smoked a lot of cannabis as a teenager, I strongly do not recommend this as suitable behaviour. It is not good for developing cognitive ability.

I would go with copa on this one, we all know his viewpoint on it now but if he says its a bad idea for a youngster(and he knows the research and facts) then I would listen to that.

Making a pariah of them can have worse circumstances.

Make her eat it... That's what my parents did when they found out my brother was smoking. Made him eat the box of cigarettes :D

I know lots of people that smoke pot and none of them are addicted or potheads. All have good to very good jobs. It sound like you are just believing the propaganda spread by the media.

Don't you think it's often genetic? Some get hooked, some don't... I really don't believe it's all psychosocial.

I'm sensitive to caffiene - my body reacts when I don't have it if I'm hooked on it. Many people I know can't relate.

On the flipside, how many hard drug users do you know who didn't start on weed? I'm not talking prescription stuff.

Only if you've lost them in the first place. Why do people assume other's kids would do as they would? Every circumstance demands it's own wisdom with reams of information not possible to put into one post.

My advice? DEFINITELY try your best to get closer to her. The real issue is in how she handles her rebellious stage, not whether she has one or not.

I don't know any who started on weed, all the hard drug users I know started on alcohol, cigarettes and coffee.

What drugs are we referring to, and did/do they never smoke weed? Sure alcohol can be as bad. Not going to get arguments from me on that one.

16 y/o kids breaking rules, and a criminal record is 'in vogue' these days?

I'm an employer and I can tell you that while it's in vogue with SOME of their peers, it's NOT in vogue with employers ;)
