Weight Losers United

who would want to sit around watching lame TV when you can be out walking, jogging, gym

The treadmills at our local Virgin Active has built in LCD displays with DSTV! :p

I go 3 times a week. 20min Jog. 10min Cycle. 10min Row. Great fun.

I'm 25, at a little less than 75kg. 1.7m.

a little over a year peder -

However i've been busy slowly replacing fat with muscle -

My weight has been pretty constant - but i'm still getting thinner and more muscular - It has now been 3.5 years since i've started - and i'm not where I want to be yet - although for the last two years I wasn't as dedicated as I should be.

I've started a few weeks ago with another push - going to be completely dedicated again.

This past year has been the same for me...

I don't lose weight but not picking it up at least, and the nicest part is i am starting to notice some muscles which is cool too...

Peder - want to join us on fitocracy? -

You should really do the hundredpushups challenge - it has been so beneficial to me

I am quite happy to share all i've learned in my journey.

I was 130kg at my heaviest - and I got myself down to 83kg.

I went from a 52" pants to 36".

It has changed my entire life.

How did you manage that. I am struggling to lose any weight. Please do share the secret.

Height: 186cm
Weight: 101 KG
Age: 35

kooldude - it wasn't easy.

I started by cutting all sugar out - no alcohol - no sugar whatsoever -

Set myself a 2000 odd calorie a day diet
and then 3 times a week I got myself a full nandos chicken with 4 rolls instead of my normal fish and veggie supper.

I also exercised - hard and often

Let me say this. To everyone who is trying. It boils down to a choice - if you really want to - it becomes easy - and fun - .

I am quite happy to encourage - discuss - or help anyone on their journey. I did mine all by myself - and I can only imagine it would be easier to have some encouragement - support and company along the path

requiem,

thanks for that extensive breakdown. i'm registered on www.myfitnesspal.com and your figures aren't far off from what they also recommended. tell you what, let me see how far i can get with this method of mine, and should i hit starvation mode or start feeling unhealthy, i'll increase my calorie intake.

my goal weight is 100kg so there's plenty of time to experiment.

that is precisely why i started this thread. i figure it would be easier with a bit of support from others.

efitol.

I seriously do not suggest you do what you want to.

You will break down essential muscle tissue - put strain on your heart - your kidneys and your liver.

The potential health risks are severe, never mind the fact that when you are actually in starvation mode - you will gain the weight back while trying to speed up your metabolism again.

If you want to lose the weight and keep it off - doing it slowly and correctly - will work - if you do it too fast - you will suffer as a result. Take it from someone who made that mistake before.

I'll try and increase my daily intake to at least 2000 calories. Today and tomorrow is party time though :)

I eat healthy monday to friday (bar wed and fri night) - sat night I usually have a large pizza - and sunday night whatever I want.

The real trick is to never snack on chocolates - or other crap.

It is actually difficult to eat 3000 calories of healthy food. (that would equate to a few more than 30 chicken pieces (100 grams) a day.

Glad to hear - you will thank yourself in the long run.

So you eat well during the week and on the weekend you go mad?

Hmmm

Lol no, not go mad, just eat enough to not gain nor lose any weight. As requiem has demonstrated, for me that's 4000 calories :D

Hi Efitol,

I'm going through the exact same process as you and honestly you are not eating enough ... unfortunately we fatties need to make peace with the fact that the amount of fat we're carrying around is the result of years of eating too much and as a consequence it could take years to loose it again. You WILL loose a LOT of muscle if you stick to anything below 3000kj and that will just eff up your metabolism even further (you need muscle to burn calories!!!)

Anyway, I'm coming from a 186kg bulk (in a 1.98m frame) and I'm down 20kg's over a period of about 14weeks ... things are beginning to slow down now a bit but I've also increased my intake from about 2400kj per day to about 3100kj to keep above my BMR (using the excellent tools available over at Fat 2 Fit Radio ... you might as well start listening to the podcast for extra motivation :))

Anyway, good luck on your journey ... you've only been going 9 days and it WILL become more difficult over time. It's difficult to stick with something and stay motivated over such a long period of time but maybe your diet for 5 days party for 2 plan might work!

Keep us updated

I will most definitely make use of your offer in the near future good sir! I'm also willing to share and encourage or whatever if anyone's interested but ja, it's always better to listen to someone who has achieved than somebody who is still trying.

I have been going to gym and its taken 3 months now and I am feeling great, I might add that I have become a little bored. In June, July and August I attended gym 72 times and burn't almost 50 000 Calories. I don't do personal trainers, and I only do cardiovascular exercise where I monitor my effort by means of a heart rate monitor where I maintain a 65% - 69% effort level. They recommend the 60% - 70% heart rate range to be the most effective in buring FAT.

I have also been going to a dietician for the past 6 months, eating right is 80% of keeping your weight in check, obviously the remaining 20% is achieved through exercise, so food is critical, the right foods, read Low GI, frequently and in conrolled portions.

I have not really changed anything since I started, however change is necessary to keep your body "guessing". As a result, in the last 2 months I have not lost any kilograms, in the four months prior to that, I lost 30 kg's. So I guess you could say that I have reached a so called "Plateau" in my weight loss programme and I have no explanation.

I also have Hashimoto's.
