Weight loss

Unfortunately I can't stop the Seroquel, unless I wish to return to the being the monster that once was. So I need to change something. This ticks a lot of the right options for me and I've been considering a low-carb diet for a while now for other reasons...

Will be interesting to see how your brain is working on ketones. Best of luck :)

Apparently Guinness isn't too carb-heavy, so I have that once in a while. But I don't overdo it.

Ales have very low carb content. You can drink 10 pints and still have consumed fewer carbs than a pizza...

I must admit, this did immediately strike me as a concern. I've never looked into it before, but the moment I read about how the brain begins to consume ketones instead, I thought to myself "oh schit, I'm quite happy with my current intellect, thank you very much..." :D

lol I'm worried it's going to make you even better at arguing your point haha

So I just whipped up a Mexican lasagna that works for this ketogenic lifestyle. I might start a recipe thread for it. And it took all of 30 minutes to prep. Just has to be assembled and popped in the oven. And it is delicious...

Start a thread. We'd reeeeaaallly appreciate the recipes :D Some veg recipes that include fat would be even more appreciated.

I don't do vegetarian. Many before you have been asked, and many before you have been ignored. I refuse to support the continued eating of my environment...

I replaced most of the flour with corn starch and xanthan gum, added half milk half cream to the sauce instead of straight milk, used a bucketload of onions and mushrooms to lower the protein count (less mince required), used 80:20 mince to ensure that I could get some fat out of the stuff, chucked in some blue cheese to the sauce to increase its fat content, cooked everything in butter, and used the beef fat that was rendered from the cooking process to begin the white sauce, together with butter as well.

I also used lasagna sheets because you use so few sheets to make it, so the carb count is incredibly low. A packet of lasagna sheets is 250g and I only used 6 sheets, so half a box, which equates to 125g, and I cooked enough to feed around 6 people. I cut it into 6 portions (hello, lunches). So 20g of carbs + 1/6th of a teaspoon of flour per person. That's low carb all the way. That's about the equivalent of one slice of bread.

By my calculations, that's about a 3:1 ratio of fat to (protein +carbs) but I will start using some more precise measurements in the coming weeks, as well as some recipes...

DJ please come up with an easy low carb pizza recipe :o

My pizza wrap pizza is low carb all the way. 50g of carbs per pizza, and according to ketogenic principles, the goal is to keep carb intake below 70g per day for a healthy male...

My mom taught me if I don't have any thing nice to say, not to say anything at all :p
