Weight loss

How many calories should I aim for on a low carb diet? I'm counting them and they barely add up to 1200 including the butter coffee which seems to be suppressing my appetite. Will it affect my metabolism eating so few calories?

Find out what your BMR is (base metabolic rate) and be sure to eat more than that. You don't want to eat too little, your body will start thinking it's starving and slow metabolism down.

I don't bother with calories. I eat when I am hungry :p

It works out to 1324. So I should increase my calories a bit? I don't feel hungry or tired with what I am on now.

That doesn't sound right at all. There's 800 odd calories in a stick of butter alone...

You're probably ok. Maybe have some cheese or something as a snack at some point, just to bump it up? I trust you're still eating three meals a day...

there is no need to aim for a calorific goal, rather measure the quantity of what you're taking in in grammes of carbs etc. so long as you're getting in enough fats and proteins you should be okay

I wouldn't necessarily aim for higher than BMR calorie intake, especially if you're not very active. The body won't go into starvation mode just because you come under the mark a little. You'd have to actually starve yourself for that to happen...
