Weight loss

Doubt anyone cares about the prize. But it's good to have some additional motivation knowing we are all in this together. Not sure about you guys but it keeps me from slacking off.

Beware low-fat/no-fat products, they're generally loaded with glyceamic carbs

Learn to read your food labels

I can attest to this. When the SO and actually started reading and comparing food labels we were amazed to see that the "diet" products tended to be higher in kilojoules than the ordinary product.

i agree, any chance of looking at individual weight loss per person and then getting a standard for everyone.

eg, if John is 80 and needs to be 75, then he only needs to lose 5kg, which might be difficult.

or Michael who is 100 and needs to be 80, he can lose 20kg, and the first 10 should be relatively easy.

Just comes down to how much you need to lose to get to your ideal weight, the guys who only need to lose a couple kilos will have it much harder..

Just a thought, i dont really care either way :)

I agree with Bastid in regard to educating yourselves and learning to read lables. I see a lot of people around me that "diet" - but know almost nothing and fall into terrible traps.

As an example using popcorn as a snack - and proceeding to eat a huuuge bag during a lunch time. :erm:
 
I must say that controlling my portions and eating slowly has proven quite effective for me. Then even if I do have something greasy or sugary I keep it very small and end up not going crazy with lust for the naughty goods. Works on weekends too. But obviously can't always do this...

just hafto remember we in it for the long haul, if you mess up one day, its fine, still got time to cover up :)
 
My problem has always been that I feel need to finish everything on my plate.

Apparently this is an actual medical or more like psychological disorder caused by parents telling their kids to finish all the food on the plate

It is actually, dish up smaller portions - or tell those cooking for you to dish smaller portions. If you know its a tendency, curb it

Use a smaller plate :) I put my food in a small bowl and tell myself its the only one I get so I eat it slowly and in the end it really was enough. D

I don't have the luxury of weighing in Monday. My weigh-ins are Saturday mornings. Not looking forward to it but yeah it will be done.
