Wesley, Thanks for telling me about the brix. How do you Google something you do not know about? The brix looks like it could be of use to me.

Hi Hsmnel

It really is a great little device, Personally i think it would make a fantastic HTPC, but its also ideal for a tiny light gaming machine, When i get the chance to buy one im going to put my steam account on, mount it to my tv, and play some of the few indie titles i have :)

I frequent a number of other forums that Wesley has posted this information on and this is the only one where people took umbrage to it.

PS I also want to buy from Rectron so Wesley you suck. *tongue firmly in cheek*

Thx Wesley.

My pleasure

Also with Regards to Linux

I myself run different versions of Linux on a number on my computers at home, and most of the time getting things to work comes down to the users ability to get them working :p

Hi Wesley. I'm looking for a KVM switch that can do PS2 and USB and work with Linux. I did speak to the guys in PE, but they could not really help me. I would prefer a 2 port switch, but a 4 port would work as well.

@RoMark The KVM-222 will be perfect for that

Okay, while RoMark seems to have forgotten one aspect of his query (as his prerogative), you've answered that the thing will work when, for anything I've found, it doesn't have PS/2. Which, to me, means you didn't read the question properly and raises the follow-on question of whether, frankly, you can be believed ..which, for me at least, has a knock-on effect for anything else, you know?

Now I know that looks like an attack but you can't begin to know how much I loathe being told by people on your side of the phone that something will work, or "I'm sure it will", only to be burned by taking their answers at face value. Point being: details, Wesley: all the details, all the time. And "I don't know" is a perfectly valid, even GOOD, answer, it's certainly better than blowing smoke up someone's arse by not paying attention and guessing. Oh, as an example of something that does answer the physical aspects of the question, the Aten CS52 apparently does PS/2 and USB. As to Linux compatibility: I don't know, but I can't imagine why it would be a problem, in my experience KVM-switching hot-key combinations are usually below the level of the OS ...usually. But I'm not selling this thing here and have no need or further interest in absolutely determining that. So, cautionary tale, mkay?

Which only adds to the case being made about the cavalier spammy attitude with which he swanned into these parts (on the assumption that he up and pasted the same unedited copy, of course). And, well, we're an ...irascible... bunch. :erm:

Hi

In my haste to reply before leaving the office for a meeting I made an error

I have PM'd RoMark and explained that the KVM-222 works with a usb to ps2 adaptor as i was initially misinformed on that

and that if he would need a kvm with ps2 and usb in the bundle the KVM-440 would be a good option (Although this model has 8 ports and not 2)

Oh and bdt the D-Link KVM is linux compatable, that i do know.

Also bdt i do overlook things from time to time as I do have a lot to do here, my job is not to do forum posts. I simply do this as a way to put across products and info on said products

I did indeed put the same copy of my initial post on three other forums, as you can imagine that a tailor made message to each individual forum would take quite a bit of time out of my day. Also this was sort of a test to see how the community's respond, i have had positive feedback on the other forums, but extremely negative support here(Which of course is okay as everyone is different).

This is of course a learning experience and at least I now know what this community expects in the future

Baby steps... :)

Ninja kicks Wesley in the face..........welcome :D

You guys bringing in the PS4?

Can Rectron give away coupon codes (10% or more off) that is redeemable to all their resellers (without mentioning them heh) sometime in the future. Since you want us to like you, gotta start some way :p.

Oh and i hope we see sponsored prizes from you guys, someone needs to test your products out for little to no work :D.

You too huh? Two screens on my desk, one was for work, the other for following this thread.
Even more riveting than the Boston bomber manhunt.

Yes he did. Whoo...

Thanks for the PM Wesley and for picking it up bdt.

I once again went to check the price list and the price list after Wesley answered and the description described it a PS2/USB solution, but after I read the specifications I did pick up that it is an USB unit only.

The Aten CS52 is not a solution for me either. It only has PS2 keyboard and USB mouse.

Hi

I just got this clarified with my D-Link PM

Basically what happened is we recieved russian stock of the kvm 222 which has USB and PS2, which is why it was listed on our site as such. So my initial post of the kvm222 working was correct, and your statement that the kvm222 does not have ps2 was also correct as the normal version does not, but the KVM222RU version that we had did indeed have ps2 :)

(Also before someone goes and googles it, yes it uses the pictre of the standard unit on the russian site, but i went and physically looked at the unit now so i can confirm)

@Romark so the version the version that i pm'd you will work, as will this RU version of the KVM222

^ this is EXACTLY the kind of clusterfsck I've learned (the hard way) to be leery of - I mean, we're both right, ffs! Hence my stance: all the details, all the time ...actually, factually checked! (and well done on follow-through (but I would expect no less from Rectron))

Import licenses are given to one company, for many if not most products out there. It would be an agreement between Gigabyte and rectron, in this case. Guess where the other distribution companies get their Gigabyte stuff from? ;)

Sorry, I know, I should have worded it better. Available locally in the reseller channel. Also meant to say another forumite asking the rep for the names of opposition distributors is extremely unreasonable and out of line (that forumite conveniently ignored being told they were exclusive distributors and/or had a brain fart). Maybe I didn't make that clear as well. I personally take exception to that request.
To the poster who asked that: "That's a clown question, bro."
