Then you will have to fork out a lot more to match what you get in those offerings. Probably looking at something like a C-Class or A8.

Indeed,I for one would like to see him finally buy a damn car.
Tsume if your heart is in a Merc then stop listening to us and go buy a Merc,just make sure it comes with lots of motorplan left as parts especially electronic ones on a merc can be costly out of motorplan.

Get one with a full plan, not the stepped plan the old models had. Or get one without plan and find a good specialist

Just buy the Astra K & be done with it 
Also remember if you are buying the base "poverty spec" model you need to add the very reasonable R4k for the 7" Intellilink system.

We had two previous shape A-Classes. 2005 and 2009 A180 CDI.
Used a guy just off Beyers Naude - worked from home... Not sure of his details but can look them up if you like. He didn't do too much work on the cars but what he did was done well. We only got his details a few months before selling the two cars

Does anyone know what after market/factory add-on one can put on Audi A3 from a dealership? All I know about is I can add cruise control.

The only after market/factory upgrades I know of for the Audi A3 is if you take it to a GM dealership and trade it in for the Astra K.

There's a place in JHB that retrofits OEM Audi components. I requested a quote for front PDC, Sat Nav and Bluetooth on an A6 a few years back - unfortunately I don't have their contact details anymore.
I got it of the Audi Club so it's possible for you to request it there
There's an after-market add-on that prevents Audi drivers from doing dip**** stuff and generally being a menace on the roads but unfortunately none seem to buy that option.

Hate to say it but there are better cars for the same money. Does it have to be a diesel? Mazda2 and Corsa will give you more for less.

Well it doesn't have to be diesel. Never driven a Mazda or Opel. I am getting the car for R 90k which I think is a bargain also. Checked Gumtree. Most go for R120k
