FiestaST, I think there's some confusion about your persistent focus on the Koreans, when I was referencing from the start that this is something hitting every single new car. Cases in point: Chevrolet Sonic, Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris have all shifted into completely new price brackets from where they were only a few years ago ... not Korean, although all still supposed to be 'affordable' city runarounds, but now retailing well north of R200 000 (heck, even the humble Ford Figo has a variant in this league).
I think the average car buyer has to just wonder where it's going to end, while motor manufacturers persist in leaving out every conceivable 'luxury' that European counterparts have just to slash the price a bit. Now we're supposed to be excited about substitutes like the Datsun Go, Toyota Etios and Honda Brio? It's a crying shame for anybody who loves cars.
