What do FNB and Microsoft have in common?

I don't see the problem.

The problem is that FNB is slowing down the use of the site for a banal user interface 'thought' that they have. I've often gone insane waiting for these moronic loading bars that are activated any time you press a button on the site.

If that was a CoJ/Sanral/Sita progress bar, Graeme would be in all sorts of other trouble right now

The progress bar doesn't affect the speed of the site. The page is going to load at exactly the same speed whether the progress bar is there or not. It's all about the user experience and for your average dumb user it makes the experience much easier to handle from a psychological point of view.

I don't know about that, on a fast connection in the middle of the night I've seen the progress bar disappear before even getting to 60%. I don't think it pauses life for no reason.

A progress bar?
I thought they both wanted our money. ;)

The guy in the video made such a big deal about this. He must be a hoot a parties. "Oh you have beer but not Windhook? I guess we can't be friends anymore, and I'm going to unfriend you on Facebook and move to Google plus"

Indeed, it doesn't slow anything down, it's just adding some movement to the screen while you wait for the next page request to start responding enough to display something.

FNB and their slow site lol. The Capitec and Standard Bank sites dont need silly progress bars because they just work fast and proper like.

Where is this progress bar? Is it Chrome only?

Much more squirm-inducing is the way the video guy totally overreacts. What a petty little drama-queen!

The page code generates a language- and data-independent progress bar to basically inform customers that things are happening behind the scenes. One would have thought our little dev-man would understand that this is an elementary element of good app design. It doesn't actually have to measure anything except time. And neither does it claim to.

But no. Our YouTubulist tells is that he feels "totally" betrayed by the bank, that FNB's integrity is questionable, and wonders whether we can safely entrust our money to them.

One can't help wondering whether this guy works for one of FNB's competitors.

I find the whole tone of this guy's feigned outrage much more objectionable than the gimmicks on FNB's website.

Half of the stuff you can't do on the two worst internet banking sites , painful method of loading beneficiaries (on STD) and then it still takes 2-3 working days for an inter account transfer between standard bank. tell me again.

Gimme my fake loader any day, if it means I transfer and pay asap as I please.

This really is moronic but if we're gonna try and make a big deal out of this FNB will spend 10's of thousands just to take it out and we will have problems because of extra website construction.

We also know the buttons/menu's are all whack, like the guy said, but we have gotten used to that wonky way by now and if we complain too much we will get another layout change and things will be broken and who knows what else.

Just leave it. For the love of God please.
