What do you feed your dog?

hi all

This is my first post and would like to get opinion on dog food quality.

Looking at buying earthborn holistic primitive natural grain free dry dog food for my daschund.

Its crazy expensive but cheaper than orijen and acana.

Anyone use it maybe to replace eukanuba or hills and difference in dog coat and general health?

Currently feeding mine Acana. She loves it, we've had to start measuring her intake otherwise she scoffs down the entire bowl in one sitting.

Was between the earthborne and the Acana, there is a price difference, but it is like R5 - I ended up going Acana becuase their website looked a whole lot better, and the packaging seems better.

My puppy is on Royal Canin Giant Puppy. Last month it was R620, this month it's R715. And they don't have stock. And they don't reply to feedback left on their website. So, I'm open to suggestions.

I buy dog food from the pet store works out to about R380 a 25kg bag my Boerbull was healthy until recently, we had to put her down "Cancer".
She lived 14 solid years know issues until last week

Don't seem to have this problem in PE, there are at least two specialist dry dog food shops that I know of. Between them they stock most of the popular vet brands.

I normally phone a day or so in advance with my order and it's ready and waiting for collection.

I'm currently using Hill's for my puppy. She's almost 4 months old now, so sticking to the food plan until she's 18 months.

It was about R450 for 7.5kg food bag, and the puppy eats ~250g per day so it's lasting a good while.

250g a day? Huge puppy?

I have a Jack Russell and he get Royal Canin "Adult Jack Russel" food. 125g a day and a snack in the evenings (also something decent and not from our plates). Costs about R225/3kg I think?

I've made it clear to friends and family that come over that my dog does NOT eat anything but dog food...not table scraps or bones.

He had a massive infection in his intestines when he was a wee pup due to my father giving him scraps from the table -.- Cost me a fortune at the vet.

She's a mixed breed, but there are hints of rottweiler and doberman in her so she might turn out to be quite big.

Picked her up at 2 months old and she weighed 2kg. At 3 months old she had grown to 6.2kg.

Also, like you, I only feed her dog food. Nothing else. She gets her dog biscuits when I train her but that's it.

Samp and meat stew cooked overnight in the slow cooker mixed with pellets. The "meat" usually consists of chicken necks/gizzards/livers or leftovers.
Still pretty much this. We've switched to rice for our current dogs though since the samp wasn't agreeing with them.

Oh! Mine is a 6.5kg Adult Jack Russell :p

Mine's getting over 750g a day at the moment.

How big is he/she?

hmm, they recommendation is 125g for my dog's weight as per the directions on the packet. Always thought it's not a lot, but he eats the whole day on it and he isn't begging for food at night so guessing that's correct.

firstly my one dog poops the wight of your dog in a day, secondly he isn't feeding a dog, it is a horse.

30 something kg Great Dane, should top out between 55 and 60kg at a guess.

Sounds fine then, if you fed him more you'd just be wasting it.
