No biltong is worth that much.
You can import it from my house for cheaper![]()
Firstly I think international sending of meat is frowned upon, and have you seen the costs for a decent internationally courier these days?
I have the Mellerware on, however the Sunbeam looks like a better build quality.
Post office pappie or amasomething at Picknpay
Not many local butchers make biltong here,.
I'm not talking about in the UK.
I mean here.
If you add up the costs it makes more sense to make your own.At the price per kilo of the raw meat and then add the spices and the biltong box, doesn't it make more sense to just shop around till you find a butcher that makes biltong like you like it and buy it there?
Is there some esoteric thing in making your own that I'm missing?

No fancy garage needed, just a [plastic] box with a light, small fan, and something to hang the meat from…No fancy biltong box, just a rack in the garage and when the weather goes wrong might need a fan to circulate air over the biltong.

Can you hang 200Kg of biltong after a hunting trip in your plestik box? I don't think so .....

It depends on what you are used to I guess. We have always made our own, I hunt for the meat and make plenty of biltong during the hunting season (getting expensive, so becoming very selective about what I hunt).
Hunting is expensive, not making biltong.[/B]
So exactly my question. Why the make your own at the same cost as buying it?
