What is "expensive" biltong wise?

That. Maybe we're just lucky in Durbs.... and I thought R160 was expensive.

Or just buy some steak and make your own, hell even at R110/kg rump its cheap and if you use top or silverside, its way cheaper.

Is it worth using rump over silverside or topside?

Also, can the biltong maker be flat packed when not in use?

TBH I stuck with the roasts as it was cheaper. Rump flavour is better but up to you how you spice it and a bag of Crown National spice is cheap ( still have mine for over 2 years ).

As to flat packing sure, I've got the Mellaware one and it just flops down, you just need to take out the light bulb.

I love biltong, I'd definitely eat more of it if it was cheaper.
 
This is all moot anyway as meat prices are about to skyrocket... if recent media articles are to be believed.
 
Step 1: Don't buy biltong at Pick 'n Pay and Biltong shops FFS! :mad:
Step 2: Either go to a butchery, a proper one, or make it yourself

profitize!
 
R279 from the Woolies butchery. Expensive yes, but probably cheapest for that quality in Canal Walk.
 
Yeah the Meat world biltong isn't bad and that's normally R180 a kilo, used to be R160 and the specials would drop it to R119. Now the specials are at R140 or so.
