What is "expensive" biltong wise?

The only problem is, it sells pretty fast, so it's hard to get a properly dried piece.
So you are buying it not properly dry (and paying a bit more for it), and then still have to dry it some more at home.

Where do you guys normally buy in the west rand? So far Food Lovers is actually pretty good 99% of the time, and at R199 not too badly priced.

Woolies and PnP are just crap, and the biltong shop in clearwater's stuff is too dry.

Where is this trailer...Checkers, Pick&Pays , Spars etc goes around R260-R300/KG. Woolworths, R600+/kg. De moer daarmee.

Sad how we get ripped of by these events. you pay entry tickets, then they also hike the prices, FFS!!!!

Haven't actually checked but I'm not convinced its much cheaper after factoring in biltong maker, meat & electricity prices. Plus I don't have somewhere to put it where it won't stink up the place.

Mostly settled for simply not eating Biltong. Blasphemy I know.

Also thinking of getting a biltong maker. Its just ridicikous going from say R100/kg for meat to R200/kg+ for biltong.
And add these Biltong Dens/Huts all over the place. You have to pay for their rent, salaries etc. Can't believe someone goes into that.
Nice little scheme to get someone's pension from them.
