What is that? - iPhone query

Does anyone know what the little spinning circle next to my wifi logo could be indicating? I've checked everything I can think of but can't work out what it's doing. And it was also happening earlier today when I wasn't connected to wifi... First time I've ever seen it!

Network activity

Shows that there’s network activity. Some third-party apps may also use it to show an active process.

Whatever application you are using is loading something from the Internet.

Kill all your apps and use a process of elimination.

Could very well be iCloud backups or Photostream.

Had already killed everything and soft reset the phone. Just figured out what it was though!

I tried downloading an app earlier today but cancelled it as it was taking forever. I just went into App Store and downloaded it properly off wifi and now the loading circle has gone. Data usage all fine thank goodness.
