I get what you guys are saying that anything is possible. I mean we're only living according to our own laws and our own understanding of it. Who knows what else is out there. You can't know that with 100% certainty!! And I'm not saying that isn't what would happen either, but you make some very definitive statements that you wouldn't be able to back up.
Yes, from our limited point of view, it may take that long as we'd have to travel at a snail's pace. But just because one couldn't imagine Aliens being able to use an Alcubierre drive, or the like, wouldn't prevent someone else from doing so, especially if they've had a couple more thousand years to fiddle/research.
But it's just my opinion that absolutely nothing can travel that fast intentionally. Especially things like spaceships and whatnot. And nothing anyone says is gonna make me think otherwise haha. I'm stubborn like that.
We're not talking 1 000 000km/h which itself is ridiculously fast. That speed is absolutely bananas. We're not talking 2 000 000km/h or 10 000 000km/h. Let's take 1 000 000 and then add another 79 000 000. Now we're traveling at 80 000 000km/h. Eighty freakin million!!
But even if it was possible, it would still take years to travel from one star to the next. It will take hundreds of thousands of years to travel from one side of our galaxy to the next and it will take millions of years to travel to the nearest neighbouring galaxy. My maths suck so bad so I don't know if I got all those numbers right lol. I think I do though.
As for warp drives, sorry but that's another thing I don't believe in. That's just pure sci-fi to make movies interesting.
And then wormholes - there is no proof that they exist and even if they did it would probably be impossible for anything to safely travel through them. They will most likely be extremely unstable and incredibly hazardous inside. Some believe that you could be stuck inside a wormhole for billions of years.
But yes, I understand that anything is possible, but we will never know.
