Nah mate, I agree with SJ. It was more difficult to watch Chelsea losing to bottom tier teams three years in a row to lose the EPL trophy in the last few weeks of the season. Still watched even when they were losing and I knew they didn't have a hope of coming back in the game. Something like Stormers fans watching the Super 14 final...

Or waiting for the Proteas to finally win the world cup. If we judge them by the high standards that have been set for Bafana Bafana, well ja. We'd be a pretty miserable bunch nor would we bother tuning into cricket world cups.

You know what is sad?
I'm devistated by the loss Nigeria suffered today, but the Bafana Bafana loss didn't really phase me. I knew it would happen, but I hoped Bafana Bafana would prove me wrong. In the Nigeria game I knew they had what is needed to win, but they lost.

To be honest lancelot, if your kid won a 100m in a cast, you have to wonder at what the opposition were like..90 yo grannies?
This is the world cup, not some sort of primary school carnival where everybody gets a gold star for turning up because we parents and teachers in this new age have to encourage our kids in everything they do badly, so that they end up in the work place expecting rewards for no output.
What we really need to teach our kids is that "your destiny is in your own hands" and not to depend on the outcome of what other people do or hope that other people trip up in life so that your mediocre performances can be rewarded.
Bafana Bafana had the destiny in their own hands when they led Mexico 1-0 and were on top in that period. They squandered it, due perhaps to bad leadership, management or maybe inexperience and immaturity.
Mathematically yes they can scrape through, so dream on...but it should never come to that.
The team that wins the WC will have taken their destiny in their own hands and done it their way.
btw...not sure if there is separate thread, but despite Nigeria's brain snaps - Kaita should be sent home imo- they are still in box seat to be the second team, they still have control in beating Sth Korea and Argentina surely will smash Greece- even if they don't need to, because 'team players' Messi et al will be keen to show some individual magic for a change.

I think there is a better chance of the Mexican an Uraguay team busses driving off a cliff than us beating France by 3-4 goals. That is what I am praying for. God had better stop slacking and deliver.

As much as I want Bafana to win, they really, REALLY don't deserve to. They are playing like star struck amateurs who can't even find the back of the net. Just look at the German attack compared to ours.
When Podolski or Lahm cross that ball, there are at least 2 but mostly 3 (sometimes 4) German attackers in the box, waiting to pounce. Thats how it should be done.
When someone from SA crosses the ball we are lucky if we have 1 man (hopefully not Modise) in the box & they FAIL badly.
I really wanted us to at least make the next round but I doubt we will even win 1 game.
