Yup, they are. Interestingly, if Uruguay and Mexico draw(SA INSTAout) the game between SA and France will be to determine just that!
 
What really gets to me is the red card and penalty in the 80th minute of our game against Uruguay... Had we lost 1-0 we would have a far more realistic chance of making it now but a 3-0 loss has made it mathematically possible but highly unlightly...
 
Uraguay were completely dominating us in that match. Even without the deserved red card we would ave gone 2+ down.

I agree we were being dominated but everything leading up to that 2nd goal was speculative. We should have got a free kick for the off sides. Instead we reduced to 10 and go 2-0 down. :mad::mad::mad::mad:
 
we need to beat france 4-0 and hope for the best :erm:

problem is, if france score first we're done.

mexico have to beat uruguay or they will have to play argentina next so there has to be a winner there, thank our lucky stars argentina are in group B
 
Sandman we got pwned and would have lost 2 or 3 nil anyhow. They were dominating us and creating major chances, what people forget is that guy was in on goal if he had stayed on his feet he would have scored but he wanted the red card plus a penalty.

So in the end without the sending off it would have 2-0 anyhow, we would never have come back anyway.

Killa the player that got fouled was off side. Indirect free kick SA. Yes we were being dominated, yes we deserved to lose, yes we were 1-0 after 75 odd minutes, no the refs red card and penalty was a poor decision on the basis of the fouled player being off sides!!!!

Another permutation to add :

If South Africa win 2-1; and Uruguay beat Mexico 4-0, then Bafana Bafana and Mexico have finished tie, with an identical goals for and against record, and level on head to head. They will then draw lots! :)

Shame it must be so sad for those who can't even get excited about the prospect no matter how feint. Poor sad people.
 
Lancelot on his happy pills again. I'd really like to know where you get that stuff from - it's obviously very strong as you keep up your delusions right up to the end point.
 
4 goals is too much in a match.. even 3 .. specially between U & M .. I mean we could do France but maybe by 1 only .. its just too much unfortunately
 
Come now folks. Us realists can't fault the optimists. There is no harm in giving Bafana Bafana support so no need to get too worried about it. Different strokes for different folks.

We were also the lowest ranking one ever and in context we moved heaven and earth to not have lost the opening game.
 
I was extremely saddened by the loss. But then i realized even if we go through, what are our chances of winning the next game which would be against a very strong team.

So yeah it sucks, but the world cup is a much bigger event and we had little chance of progressing much further.
