All fish oil caps have pretty much turned rancid already.Bit into it and taste and smell it, that is not supposed to smell like that.

I have 2 protein shakes every day, using a mix of Nutritech whey and nutritech casein.

Do you take the whey and casein together or spaced apart? Because if you're doing it together you're wasting the effect of casein.

It's really bad, I forgot I had a capsule in my mouth and bit it thinking it was something else...bad move lol

Moducare Plus.

The best (cost effective) option that includes everything I've been prescribed.

Together.

Read some studies on the matter - taking a combination of proteins is better than just one.

I think you mean wasting the effect of whey, since whey is faster to absorb. But in any case, if you look at the actual rate of whey and casein absorption, the difference between whey and casein is not as high as you think.

Agreed, Whey is good as a post Workout too as you said it is fast absorbing. I know casein is good before bed too.

But currently I'm just with Whey since its quite pricey especially as I am a student :[

Please provide links to these studies. There is a substantial difference between the break down of these two proteins. And no I did not mean the wasting effect of the whey.

The article cites several studies performed on the subject. Can easily find more by googling.

And here is another one

EDIT: If you are referring to the fact that micellar casein does not stimulate an insulin release, that doesn't matter to me since I eat in a 4 hour window anyway. I'm fine with having elevated insulin in that window - the rest of the 20 hours of the day, my insulin is low.

I wasn't disputing anything you said, I was merely interested in the studies. Will give those a read.

Not sure if you mentioned, which particular casein brand do you use? Have you tried others and noticed any different effects?

Melatonin 0.75mg/d

You have issues sleeping?

I use Nutritech, which contains casein calcinate. Apparently it is the cheapest form of casein. The difference between it and micellar casein is that micellar casein apparently doesn't stimulate insulin, whereas casein calcinate does.

You said I was wasting the effect of the casein, what did you mean by that?

Well, not sure its valid anymore. But basically I've read it breaks down slower than whey and when combined it speeds up the break down of casein but reduces its efficacy in absorption due to the fact whey has already started amino acid production.

Had bad insomnia at a stage, but I decided to keep using the Melatonin even when I eliminated that problem. Our modern world with all the light at the blue/violet side of the spectrum at night wrecks our Melatonin production. I'm trying to make it less, but even warm white LEDs have a secondary peak in the blue side. I just received LEDs last week that has a very narrow band in the 580-595nm spectrum. Will start playing with them soon, I hope it will totally eliminate circadian shift. My computer is already set up with f.lux.

While Epitalon can re-activate Melatonin production, it does so only in old mammals. I'm far to young to see that effect.

I'm the total opposite, I can sleep in pure day light, and with tons of lights on. I found supplementing melatonin made me extremely groggy and put me in a generally foul mood.

I take a daily zinc supplement. From discussions I've had with doctors, that is the one thing you do not get enough of, even is you follow a balanced diet. It boosts the immune system as well as helps with your eyesight.

As well as a calcium magnesium one. A few years ago I had the most horrible cramps and supplementing my magnesium intake helped.

I also boost it with a month long course of Ocuvite at least twice a year.
