Whats the catch here - Telkom Simple 4mb Uncapped

Hey guys, just want to find out whats the catch here http://www.telkom.co.za/campaigns/simple-3/index.html#.U2jCkvm because just last week I spoke to Telkom to install adsl at my new place, and there were talks of installation fees, deposit, line rental, separate payment for adsl capability on the line and the payment for the actual 4mb uncapped line

Now I saw the link above, and to me it looks like I can get a 4mb uncapped line for R733 without forking out an extra cent, it includes the following:
- Telkom Landline rental
- Free landline and ADSL installation
- Free WiFi modem

WTF when I spoke to telkom it sounded like its going to set me back at least a couple of grand the first month to get me sorted:wtf:
 
No catch at all, 99% of the members on here who applied for ADSL within the last two years took one of the Simple deals :)
 
Do uncapped advanced is R548 do you need simple which is R185 more and also comes with modem and 25% discount on top of it.

If you not going to spend R185+ on calls its pointless.

Telkom Simple also includes:
Free Prepaid Internet Starter Pack (3G USB modem and 200MB recurring Telkom mobile data for 12 months)

Does it have free roaming on MTN or does it have to have 8ta signal which is still lacking in some areas?

Also for R29 Afrihost gives 500 mb with promotion.

Soon all 8ta services will roam on MTN for free...

For that R29 promo do you get the wifi modem for free as well?

Did at the beggining now its between R600-R800, but you can use any 3g modem/router with the simcard if you got one lying around.

Yeah but thats excluding the line rental http://www.do.co.za/broadband/offerings/telkom-internet-plans/uncappedbundle/do-uncapped-advanced/ which comes out to R705 if you add that, and I'm guessing then you still have to pay for a modem and installatio, simple still seems better, no hefty first month expenses.

Adsl modem is free with every bundle, I get a router I want every 1-2 years without a contract and a replacement one if mine is faulty.

Its R564 with 25% discount, I pay R600 in total every month with calls.

How does the discount work ? Is it still available ?

I know I read somewhere on the forum about this but cannot find it now.
 
What is currently the best deal for ADSL uncapped internet ? Don't need something very fast, just need to be able to use between 100-200gb per month. I currently do not have ADSL.

Just grab 2Meg uncapped from Telkom or the 2Meg premium from mweb.
 
sorry to bring this thread back up, but i noticed that if you took a voice line and adsl line, you will then have to pay for installation etc.

however, if you do the simple package, you pay 399 and get the adsl and voice installed for free. However, the 10GB's is not going to be sufficient for my needs. do i guess here and say that you are stuck with that offering, and will have to add another ISP for more data?
 
Do you think the Telkom Simple Uncapped (2MB) would suffice for Netflix?

I killed just 3GB yesterday alone on Netflix and general internet browsing.. okay and 1 torrent download of 300MB

More than capable. I was running a 2Mb line for most of 2014 and Netflix never struggled once. I kept the quality setting to 300MB/hr, but it was still just below DVD quality and very smooth. I was on Afrihost Business, but Telkom's uncapped packages also prioritise streaming.
