WhatsApp backup

Hi,

does anyone know if its at all possible to backup ones whatsapp chats to google drive, instead of iCloud? there doesn't seem be a choice when selecting to backup...

There are apps you can use to transfer to a new phone.

Probably simpler.

Tried the app to transfer to a new phone but it doesn't work with WhatsApp, lose all chats and start fresh.

Same way you want to keep your email.

There’s often a wealth of stuff in there that comes in handy a year or five from now.

i know this is old

i don't have an iphone but surely this is as simple as copying the whatsapp databases folder from your iphone to your new phone?

on your android phone you would create WhatsApp/Databases and copy the database files into that folder. when you install whatsapp it should pickup from where you last backed up

Nope.

You don’t have access to that folder directly on the phone.

Which is why the third party apps extract the content from the (unencrypted) iTunes Backup instead.
