WhatsApp Web gets iPhone support

Surely adoption rates would the primary reason to subscribe to a particular IM app?

Having a large support base ensures continuity and further support from new subscribers.

It would be if they were both equal. Telegram is the better app, it came out a lot later than WhatsApp though and it certainly doesn't have the same sort of marketing budget.

Yeah, that's the problem though. Whatsapp might not be the best written app but with such high adoption rates it's going to destroy competitors.

I always thought Viber was a pretty good IM app, which supported VoIP from day one. It was also late to the party and hasn't really gained the traction Whatsapp enjoys.

Anyway, must say I love Whatsapp and use it extensively!

Technical superiority always plays second fiddle to incumbency. This is true for phones, cars, fridges and what ever.

What's wrong with Whatsapp as an app?

It does what it claims to do, I've used it for years and never seen it crash. It updates every once in a while - totally seamlessly, I have ported my account across three different devices over the years and never had to intervene in the process.

I really enjoy the fact that it does what it does and doesn't suffer from feature bloat. Even the recent addition of calls is useful, unobtrusive and free (relatively, it uses data of course.)

...I really cannot fathom what you neckbeards are on about.

Techipsters. Whatsapp is too mainstream for them.

The fact that it doesn't work seamless on your phone, tablet and pc like Telegram does.

It will probably take another 6 months for Apple users to get Google Drive backup lol...

To be fair they had custom group notifications for a long longer than Android, and to lesser importance, multi racial emoticons.

And the ability to hide your last seen status. Did andorid finally get that?
