have it on it's own browser window and minimize (as in make it smaller) then lock it so that it's always on top.

Thanks, but I don't think that's an option for Mac users.

Tried via Safari on iOS but no luck.

EDIT - turns out it works if you request the desktop site from within safari!

Keep in mind that you have to have Whatsapp running on your phone and linked up in order to use the web interface on your browser.
