When can we expect a price drop from iBurst?

I wonder if iBurst will feel a bit of presure now that telkom announced a price reduction. I worked out a 192kbps ADSL conncetion with 3gb from cybersmart and the phone line will only cost about R400. compared to R469 I pay now. Thats a saving of about R840 per year.

EDIT: It seems the 192kbps and 384kbps line rental will cost the same :( will have to wait for clarification on that though. I hate telkom

The new prices for the 3G contracts from Vodacom also challenge the iBurst pricing now...

It does not really look like a challenge when I look at the price structures (correct me if I'm wrong)

Iburst 3gig R679 a month (24 month contract incl laptop modem)
Vodacom 3G 3 gig R1277.00 a month (24 month contract incl laptop modem)

Ja, 3G isnt the problem, its only usefull for bussiness men that travel alot, not a home/downloading solution at all!

it Telkom that scare me.. so their lowest price is R345 for 3 gigs at 384kb? But thats hard capped hardly suitable compared to Ibutrst at all.. so you have to include a 2gig+30gig local to odwnload with.. um like R510? + R92 line rental = R600
But that is alot of bandwidth.. onl local though.. the DC hub isnt really helping anymore, geuss IS newserver can get you what you want?
 
Guys, don't forget that Telkom's price drops are effective August 1st only. That give iBurst some time to strategize, as well as keep their current pricing as long as possible. I assume (and hope) that by mid July they announce some form of changes.
 
I thought iBurst dropped the hardware prices and activation some time early these year?

Can someone confrim that for me

That kind of decrease is not for current subscribers but more for potentially new subscribers. Existing subscribers do not benefit from such a decrease whatsoever.
 
^ Infact that just increase profits for Iburst. As you could see from all the changes they obviously got a big capital injection lately, soooo.. they drop once off start up costs which arent as important to them anymore and get more subscribers meaning more money for the future and in general..

Now they just need to sweeten the deal with connection costs and they should get alot more users as joining up isnt nearly as costly any more.
Hopefully this is their plan and they arent just trying to get more people to join at the higher prices..
 
When I got Iburst 2 months ago, I paid R0 for activation, Delivery and all the normal jazz. I can't tell you what I paid for the UTD as I got it on a contract and papers are...well I actually do not know where I put it now that I think about it. But I must say, their service was truly great in getting the whole deal going. it was a massive 48 hours from time of logging the application web page to me surfing the net on iBurst. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of move in the pricing structure, like EKHAATVENSTERS said, to me at this point in time Iburst is just 64 kb/s uncapped, that doesn't really qualify you to compete globally on the name 'Broadband internet'.
