Just had a chat to some people from different countries and this is what they're paying for internet.

Canada

$59 and get around 16-18mbps down.
Texas

$56 a month for 20mb down 10mb up...no cap or anything
Boston

$40 / month for 10 / 10.
Scandinavia

$20 a month for unlimited 10 mbit / 10 mbit cable Internet
Russia

I have cable and DSL going through a dual WAN router:
Cable: $59/mo, 10mpbs down / 1mbps up, 90GB usage
DSL: $50/mo, 5mbps dpwn / 800kbps up, unlimited usage
Ultimate plan.. $149 for 50mbps down / 2mbps up (175gb usage)
Toronto

$89 a month for 3MPS with 200 gig data and phone.
Australia

39 euros for 12mbp and 500gb cap (they only count downstream and between 01.00 and 13.00 they've got 'happy hr'...)
Location Unknown

$50 and some change a month for basic cable TV and 15mbps cable internet.

Don't know how accurate this is but makes u think how expensive we really are with internet over here... :-(

I don't mind at all the speeds I'm getting with Iburst. Personally 1mbps is fine for me. Would just like to see a bigger cap.

Hi guys.

When I want to watch a you tube video I normally pause it until 50% has been streamed in and then play to the end.

Just my experience.

So if i wanna watch a segment of a clip of an hour , i need to wait 30 mins before i can watch it ... that should not be neccesary on a supposed 1Mb connection when people on a 512k and even 384k ADSL seems to be able to watch it witho0ut buffering pauses and so did i on my iburst when i got the connection.
Im sorry Shaun/Jannie but the iburst experience has gone downhill since i got it. It is not the same product (or better) compared to what i had when i first subscribed with you guys.

Simple solution is not to watch Youtube.

CAP, cap, cap, cap, cap.... we need LARGER caps for the same price OR cheaper caps. Ideally cheaper, larger caps would be best!!!

For great justice!!!!!!!!1

How about no cap? It's time iBurst and other ISPs explained why they are unable to provide an uncapped (as in unmetered, not the bizarro world definition as put forward by a certain representative of Vanilla ISP) solution.

I don't believe iBurst is capable of uncapped at this stage. The best we can expect is cap increases or increased softcap speeds which is in itself an uncapped-lite type product. At uncapped - a 1Mb/sec connection would suck 324 GB per 30 day month.

However, I agree, if NEOTEL can provide such a product - surely others can too.

Noted and communicated to Product.

Thanks for the comments/ideas guys.

Talking about speeds, I am on the 10gb account that is suppose to be unshaped but still the ports are blocked & to tell the truth I havent really notised a big increase in speed.

All iburst accounts are shaped.

Hi All

Lets face it, SA doesn't have the Super WIFI or ADSL speeds that the USA/UK guys have on offer. Also we don't get it nearly as cheap as they do.

I think most people can live with 1mbit, the bigger problem is the small/useless cap.

The entire world is growing into the Java-realm of webdevelopment which means more Graphics, animations and slides. Most people use the internet for Surfing, Gaming, Voice-chat and work.

Everyone around the world can enjoy the new age of development, while SA is really having a hard time keeping up. Sure some massive amounts of speed would be nice, but why would you want to get nowhere very fast. (Lets face it, 3gig is peanuts within 2-3hours for the greedy downloaders)

Lets hope, there is some light at the end of this very thin tunnel to europe :)
