The electronics bug bit me again.

Where do you guys buy your electronics from (resistors, ICs, diodes, transformers, capacitors etc)?
Most local places seem very overpriced so importing is probably best.

Side note, anyone knows of a reliable supplier for Samsung/LG 18650 batteries?
The cheapest I can get them for locally is R70 per battery ( ICR18650-26J 3.7V 2600mAh)

Communica when they used to be in Salt River area. Haven't been to their new premises. Pain standing in the queueeueueueeueue but you could at least ask the people working there a technical question and get some help.

i work here in Paarden Eiland close by them and have never stood in a queue, maybe i was just lucky or you just had bad luck

Oh yes i forgot about them
I used them about 5 years ago to repack a big battery bank for us at work
The manufacturers said impossible you must buy a new battery
Long story short, Just Batteries repacked our battery bank with 18650's and its rock-solid, its even better than the original battery bank because they used higher capacity batteries

So yes, i can highly recommend Just Batteries for their quality

Mantech
RS Electronics
Both are good for electronic parts.

RS is only good quality stuff that always meets specs and guaranteed to work. Not cheap but the answer if your needs are beyond that of a hobbyist. I use them from time to time when our normal suppliers here sometimes import re-labelled crap that doesn't work. Plus RS has incredibly quick delivery time.

Mantech I don't use for TV parts. But I have used them for electronic parts in the past. They have never dissapointed me. Almost everything originates from China. But it's quality Chinese stuff. And it's really affordable. Not cheep (cheap) kak that doesn't work.

So you cannot go wrong with either of them. Depends on your needs. Much respect for both companies :thumbsup:

Communica and RS-Online have always been my go-to.

Also, make sure with RS-Online that its in stock in ZA, because it can show in-stock but its actually coming from their UK or other warehouses which will explain the higher price.

Also as others have mentioned, there's Lithium-Ion and there's Lithium-Ion. They look the same, but one is cheap junk that will not last long and is a fire hazard, and the other is a better quality battery that will actually do what you want it to.

Got a qoute from them yesterday, very good pricing I am ordering the batteries from them still R80 each so not the cheapest out there, but feels like the cheapest I could find online locally.
Haven't seen them before, i'll check them our for batteries i need.
