Where do you buy your electronic components from?

Anyway I have DiyElectronics nearby me, although with R69 shipping I would rather not collect personally anymore. I wanted to get some Pi Picos, but they were rather more expensive, and Pi Shop is the cheapest around. In the end I used Micro Robotics as I needed a temperature controller, R112 shipping via the Courier Guy, ordered on the 7th and received on the 9th in Durban.

A few other modules that I was eyeing on Aliexpress ... Stelltron came up on my search and the parts were barely marked up from Aliexpress prices. Ordered on the 9th, TCG delivered on the 14th, paid R132 for shipping.

I used to use DX, then Banggood. But recently BG pricing has been very variable, sometimes you get a good deal and sometimes the prices are 2x higher for the same item, mostly high recently.

I have never used Aliexpress. I am having difficulty identifying stores that ship with tracking numbers, and ideally via Buffalo. I can trust the Chinese stores reasonably so but once it received SA the post office is a big gamble. Has this situation improved? I am looking for modules like ESP32, LCDs, Oleds, Pi Picos to play around with and my cart is never big enough to justify EMS.

How reliable is Aliexpress standard (no tracking) via the SA post office these days?

You may want to have a look at Geek/Wish - seems they did a deal with SAPO a while back. I've brought in 3 small lots of electronic devices/components in the last 6 months, last leg is via SAPO but tracking is accurate and the whole exercise takes about 3 weeks. You pay about R35 at SAPO for handling fees on cheaper goods, anything a little pricier will attract appropriate duties etc.,

I see www.electronics123.co.za mentioned in the thread. Website is broken, probably no longer in business. I think they used to advertise in the old Archimedes periodical, and I last used them about 15 years ago but used to visit their site now and again.
seems to be going downhill:

Electronics123 - Google Maps

3 - 5 years ago the reviews were generally favorable. 2 months ago only had 1 star review, and yesterday somebody else reviewed and also complained about the website.
