Maplin. That was like an RS thing. Only cheaper. I remember ordering BUZ90 and heatsinks from them. I'm talking prior 1991

So Yebo used to be my go-to, they are very close by (I am in Tygerfalls, they are in Boston), but they don't carry a wide variety anymore and they are at a minimum 2x more expensive than most online places now.

I remember a little black catalogue. ECM I think. In Pretoria. I was on holiday with my folks around that time. Asked my dad to take me there.

He was not from Pretoria. But my uncle was..... hectic driver. **** me.

What a trip. He cussed and swore the whole way. Anyway, I got to ECM. I bought my heatsinks and saw their store and that was it.

I'm talking around about prior 1995 here. Imma old. Point is for me, I appreciate technical excellence. My whole life has revolved around me doing the best I can. I achieve technical excellence by listening to people that know stuff. Not ****ups that guess.

As I sit here and wheeze, doe's anybody think I give a flying **** for the ANC?

Any recommendations on what Spot Welder to buy and from where (in Western Cape).

I want to build some lithium ion battery banks and will mainly use 18650 cells so need a small spot welder to put the nickel strips on.

I've seen nothing available really here but I haven't looked for a while.
About a year ago when I was looking at a similar project, I looked at spot welders on banggood. There were various options there that seemed as though they would be adequate with competitive pricing. I never got serious enough to actually do it.
You can also build your own if you can scavenge a transformer from a microwave.

check Banggood.com out for those, there are plenty. Specifically made for joining 18650's together, but also remember these batteries need a good balancer to charge each one individually
We aren't playing with AA batteries here

Was thinking of buying a sunkko spot welder myself

Groupbuy bangood time?

Was looking last week and found there are lots of these "portable" spot welders, but surely they need some kind of transformer//other equipment to work?
Aliexpress has some.lower prices on them currently, but shipping is going to be pricey (although varies so much per seller!?
