In the end it does not really matter where you are and what is around you or who did what. All nations have had their ups and downs. Europe has been at war so many times, it is boring. So let us not even go there apart to use them as an example of massive movements of power and wealth.

The gap between the rich and poor shall always continue to increase, unless self-discipline is used.

What we are finding is that the entire world is now at that point of fighting over the wealth and abusing the poor.

So where does that leave South Africa? Only so far as what South Africa would get to grips to accept things are wrong and skewered. What is done depends on all of us to do the basics, by ignoring pursuit of opportunistic wealth and to look what can be done to solve the wealth gap.

Does someone really have to be a director on 38 boards? Does a CEO really have to earn Rm12 + per year?

The unlocking of wealth has been absorbed and squandered by a few select.

Should this not change then we in SA might have a ‘French’ revolution. This time the masses shall turn on the new ‘royalty’. The pendulum has just swung so far that it must either return quickly or risk losing from the main body.

That's just wrong. Whites a minority? Are we living in the same country? Sure they're minority on a demographic level, but they are most certainly the majority [or so the govt. is making us believe] on any other aspect.

Answer these questions:

1. Why do we need AA/BEE if whites are a minority?
2. Why does so many companies have a 25%+ "black ownership" deal, doesn't that indirectly insinuate a WHITE MAJORITY ?
3. Why do we need quotas if whites are the minority?
4. Why is govt. STILL saying they are missing "transformation" targets if blacks are the majority?
5. Why are farm land such an important issue? Is it maybe that the white "minority" is the MAJORITY doing farming in SA???


..and point 5 ties with Zim, easy to go and say "oh whites are a minority, they can't do diddly in an election" , but if the same minority actually forms the basis of your entire country's food resources you are in for a real treat if you mess with that.

Overall, the trends indicate that almost the opposite is actually true.

Of course its written off as 'corruption' or 'stupidity' or any number
of various excuses, by citizens - however, the overall trend is clearly
towards allowing a state of social terror and disorder, to develop, for all citizens,
beneath what appears to be a smokescreen of deliberately ineffectual 'transformation'
announcements and appointments, and carefully manufactured instances of 'stupidity'
in Government actions, statements and behaviour.

While behind the scenes, what appears to be a systematic dismantling of a modern

Hi All

I would just like to get some opinions as to where South Africa will progress to in the future. I know some of the people on this forum seem to think we will end up like Zimbabwe or some other African banana republic, anyway it is their opinion.

I have another possibility that could come about. CNN has being doing a series of segments on India and how it is over there. Now we all know how the Indian economy has exploded over the years, much like SA but ours being far smaller, however as the CNN reports show is that all that has happened is that the gap between rich and poor has grown to unbelievable levels.

The same can be said for China and Russia where all these Billionaires are coming from. These seem to me as more possible scenarios, so at what price are we willing to have a booming economy?

I watched that segment with the teen doing hear schoolwork and MTV playing in the background on the plasma screen, and then they cut to the poor/rural Indians, the similarities with SA are striking after watching that.

Although, I'm not sure where SA is headed though, even though many crime free areas do exist in SA, crime is really the biggest problem SA faces currently(speaking for the City's and most of Suburban SA)

Because whites still overwhelmingly control the economy and to the detriment of other races' development despite being the minority (AA/BEE are economic policies that aim to adress that anomaly)

Yes a white majority, but only in terms of representativity in companies.

I don't understand this one clearly but economic transformation is still a very new concept and it has not yet made a significant impact to the economic disparities between the races.

You don't understand why land is important Anyway the white minority still own the majority of arable land and therefore it's not exactly rocket science that they are the majority farmers in SA or is it rocket science?

I agree - especially with the current form of AA which makes a handful of black people so sticking rich that it makes the white gold mining bosses look like paupers.

I really don't take delight in seeing things go bad in SA but we're definitely not headed in the right direction at the moment.
The economic boom we are experiencing is mainly benefiting the minority who are already rich and if crime keeps spiraling out of control the bubble will eventually burst.

I'd love it if there was a labor law that forbid the highest paid worker in a company (like the CEO) to earn more than 10 times the lowest paid worker.
i.e. If the CEO wants to earn 100K per month he can't pay anyone else less than 10K per month even if they're the floor sweeper.
However something like that wouldn't work because people are damn GREEDY and would rather do business elsewhere where they can ride on the backs of other poor souls.

Greed (selfishness) is the main driving force behind the challenges we're facing and it doesn't look like it's going to improve any time soon.

Yes, the pale males hold the lions share of the skills in SA. This is historical. Nothing, nada, zip is going to change that in the near future. Between eighty & ninety percent of professionals in SA are pale males.

Putting these pale males out to grass isn't going to help anybody. And AA is doing that. Skilled professionals are being bounced and are unable to find employment subsequently. Why do you think councils & municipalities are crying out for skills? The skills are there but they can't be employed. The cumulative experience will lost as will the individuals to other countries. The net result WILL be an erosion of infrastructure.

IMO apartheids greatest crime was the denial of opportunities.
