Which Car to get?

Ok, maybe go and see the Chevy spark guys and try to bring them down, if they aren't interested leave your details and walk away, play for time in the mean while and look elsewhere, chances are that they will call you back if they don't find a willing victim in a couple of weeks.

Thanks...will do this in the mean time.

I'm thinking of getting a bottom of the range Toyota Etios. My Ford figo is 8 years old, and old.

What about a bottom of the range Sandero? The build quality looks much better than an Etios, The Etios will fall apart long before your old Figo.

Might as well go for the Toyota Aygo then, safer and much better look at inside and out.. and cheaper

Let me think about it, I thought an Etios is a solid and a reliable car.

Looks don't matter to me much. My budget is sub R175k, hence an Aygo is out of my budget.

They start from R162k, although an Aygo is not comparable in size to your Figo. It is reliable but it has a very weak body structure. The engine is the only good thing about the Etios. My cousin has one and pieces of the body trim are already falling off in the inside, the carpet is of very low quality, It seems to have only a single layer of paint as even the smallest scratch exposes metal. Hers is the very first generation, maybe things have improved since then.

Have you considered a Fiesta? At that budget you should be able to get a very low milage, even a demo one maybe, especially with the 2018 Fiesta coming out.
I'll take a year or so old Fiesta with 20 - 30K km on the clock any day over a new Etios.

I'm more of a new car kind of guy. I'm skeptical of second hand cars because you'll never know if you'll have a gearbox problem, or a clutch problem, down the line. People change gears like their angry out there.

Thanks for the info though, I'll think about it.

Hahahaha you lying etios can't be that bad, the are so popular if I had R175 000 I would look at Suzuki Celerio, Swift or Toyota Aygo, previous generation yaris (not the two tone one).

Went to look at a Hyundai i10... so many scratches as well as flat tyre. Dealer also says I should take out a R8000 extended warranty

I had an Aygo as a courtesy car for two days earlier this month.

Lovely little car, great to drive and a nice amount of kit for such a small car.

Getting up to highway speed limits took a long time but it was easily able to maintain it afterwards.

I'd want a slightly more powerful motor personally and maybe a bigger boot although at most times it's not necessary.
