Have seen many posts, all just confusing me even more :wtf:
So which Desktop Environment do I choose?
  1. Unity
  2. Gnome
  3. Mate
  4. Cinnamon
  5. KDE

Current flavors of Linux are Ubuntu or Mint.

Which do you use & why?
Would like to weigh up the pro's & cons before installing.

HaHa...
Had enough of Winblows for now.

Do yourself a flavour, go google some screenshots and decide which you like best.

Each to their own eh :)

I have AstroTurf, would just like users experiences who have maybe tried 2/3 or even all on the list.

I'm happy with Unity personally, some people have way to much issues that I think come from how it used to look before unity (stuck in their ways?).

I would try a couple if I were you, install virtualbox and play away :)

Have done so, quite happy with Unity, but have a linking towards Mint Cinnamon as well.
At the end of the day I don't want to over complicate things for myself.
Like I said input/reviews from users pros/cons from there user experiences thus far is most welcome.

Problem is that there's no real winner and any recommendation would be subjective.

I prefer Gnome 3 but I'm from a Fedora / CentOS / Redhat background. The only DE in the list I don't like using is Unity but that's just me, it has many adherents.

Thanks for your input

None of those on the list. For a DE XFCE but I prefer just a WM Openbox/PekWM

Mint. It's a pretty cool OS.

/inb4 Windows 10 fanbois start foaming at the mouth

I didn't like Unity at first. Way back when it was called Netbook Remix, I thought it was great on a limited netbook display, but didn't want it on my desktop.
Since Ubuntu Precise it has grown on me though, and now I am quite used to it.
