Which Fibre ISP?

I used to look for the best. Now I just choose the cheapest over the next 12 months.

Anyone here on WebSquad? Your experience…? I see they currently have 50/50 on Vuma for R749pm. Also, looks like you have to pay for installation…?

No FUP. No throttling. No cap.

Not quite about the spec of the router, nor if there’s a cost to it?

There perhaps an agent here who can contact me (seems they don’t have a “contact me” form on their site).

Also, on a separate note, if the previous owner of a property had fibre, but removed the ONT upon vacating the property, do I still qualify for “free installation”…? Some ISPs say yes, and some say no. I get that it’s Vumatel’s installation though.

Happy to answer any questions you may have- drop me a PM.

With regards to the missing ONT- Vumatel will see this as a new install sadly. If you can track this down, that will save you a fresh install.

@websquadza is it the norm that for Vumatel to re-install a previously-removed ONT or move an existing ONT (from one part of a room to another part of the same room) they require the same fee as a new installation (i.e. R1,725)…? This seems rather unethical and possibly blatant thievery…?

Hi all

I require that the existing ONT in my new apartment be moved to a different location but according to the ISP, Vumatel sees this as a new installation and would require the full new installation service cost (i.e. R1725). That is obviously a ripoff!!

Any advice, or a contact at Vumatel…?

TiA
That's how they all do it, even Openserve. You COULD move it yourself but if anything breaks its on you and could be dependant on there being extra fibre spool to reach the new spot

Unfortunately it is. Most FNOs have standardised pricing on any task that involves the actual fibre drop as being a re-install. This includes replacing CPEs, re-routing or re-running fibres - they use install teams instead of maintenance crews for these tasks. Crazy as it sounds, R1725 is often below cost if replacing a fibre or ONT is involved. The complexity of moves (sometimes fibre needs to be replaced as it breaks during the move, or it's too short - you can't just add extra fibre), the cost of the hardware and the callout/labour all add up. The variance in possible combinations of requests means that a standard price across the board makes more sense.

Hi TTConnect
When will you relook at your pricing?

Other Fibre providers + ISP - 20Mbps/20Mbps @ R500pm,
TTconnect + in-house ISP (Fredd) @ R799
TTConnect + other ISP @R750pm++

Other Fibre providers + ISP - 50Mbps/50Mbps @ R735pm
TTconnect + in-house ISP (Fredd) @ R919pm
TTConnect + other ISP @R850pm++

Update…

So, Vodacom is running black November…same packages but no FUP for the duration of the contract if you sign-up in November.

Thoughts…?

Is the black november deal just them removing the FUP? Surely not

They have a rep (@Krypton Web - AQP ) which is a plus but I haven't seen a review of them on this forum.

edit: I hope they're good because their 500/200 vumatel offering is crazy good
Hi @tm458 @Reeez @DarKWateR
Kindly note I have an account but I'm not a "rep"

We have a great Support Team that can be contacted via WhatsApp, our website, Facebook messenger, or IG messages that will assist you with with any queries

Also please note the BF2022VCP deal is ONLY valid for orders we place with Vuma over the Black Friday weekend
So if you are a new customer to Vuma Fibre - then this is perfect
If you have an existing service with an existing ISP then you will need to put in a cancellation AND get a line release confirmation on email from them for the 25th November 2022 latest

Apart from the BF2022VCP - our normal Black Friday service with Vuma still offers 3 months free (4 if you are already a Kryptonian)
And for these you have until end Feb 2023 to switch to us - so enough time to sort out any cancellations/waiting periods with your current ISPs
Pricing is not as hot at the BF2022VCP deals, but still gives you 3 free months - if ordered while the deal is advertised

I've placed my order with Krypton earlier to migrate from Afrihost. Should I cancel my Afrihost line so long while waiting for the Krypton order to process? I'm just trying to minimize downtime. Thanks

For the above deal you have to meet the specific requirements as advertised on the Website and Online Order form
We am busy relying to orders received currently and will address each one that may require further specific assistance

Thanks. I've received a reply but it says I have to have the line released by 25 Nov. I don't know if that would be possible as I have received the following from Afrihost when I cancelled the line now.
