Hi Guys,

Last year I gave up on Blackberry because of the horribly over subscribed Vodacom BIS. Now I'm back in black, so to speak, and on the MTN Network. Alas, the experience seems to be the same. Email and IM work great but downloads and browsing are PITIFULLY slow. I am in the Menlyn, Pretoria area during the evening and the Fourways, JHB area during the day.

So which is better guys? Some speed tests or the like would be appreciated, especially from anyone on the newly launched CELL C service.

How fast can BIS go anyway? Isn't there some speed limitation with the BIS service despite your phone being able to go at HSDPA speeds ?

BIS is currently limited to 3G speeds, but on MTN i rarely get download speeds higher than 12KB/s.

up to december last year had BES on MTN and would get 100KB/sec on downloads (on a Bold). Now on Vodacom on a Curve and am lucky to get 3KB/sec

Ive read in another post under these BB threads that Vodacom has had a major upgrade and now are faster than MTN. (on their BIS service.. compared to how it was previously)

I'd also love to hear from anyone who is using BB on Cell C. I just got my BB 9700 BOLD today (bought cash, on a regular 315S Topup contract) and am waiting on my BIS to be activated from Voda (+R59 / month)

anybody here on cellc? hows the browsing speeds etc?
Im on Cell C with a 8250 using BIS and im sorry to report, its horrible. I havent done any speedtests yet because i dont know how, if someone can post a link to a speedtest app or something ill be glad to assist.

The downloading is very slow, many websites i try to load times out, and MXIT and 2GO login fails 6/10 times and then it stops working all together and ive been forced to redownload mxit 3 times already. Im in Midrand/Waterfall during the day and Pretoria Montana area at night.
