WHich is best? PLASMA vs. LCD vs. LED

@Mike Smit: My exact argument to most people. A bigger screen size will give far more of a better experience with gaming/movies than a smaller FHD screen.

I won't mention the TV type that tends to offer this at a cheaper price/bigger size.
 
It makes perfect sense why everyone raves actually ... And mentions price too.

A friend of mine SMSd me to tell me he's buying a PS51 or whatever it is for 10k. First thing he mentioned is the price and LCD or LED was 16k

I'm not saying its wrong - I'd also mention it if I feel I got an absolute bargain. I'm just saying VALUE is a massive part.

I wonder if all those plasma were identical prices to LCD and LED - what would happen then?
 
I'm not arguing that they wouldn't mention price.

I'm arguing against your previous post which basically says "people buy entry level plasma for the price and not because it offers better PQ, experience etc.". That's where you're wrong.

Value is one of the many benefits.

Well your friend made a good choice because that is a superb plasma. I hope you still allow him to roll with the cool guys! :cool:

Those who know the difference, need sport, need movie quality, have rooms that aren't bright would obviously still buy plasma.

I wonder what would happen if all plasma and LCD were demo'd under correct lighting and viewing distances without salesmen - what would happen then is predictable.

A full HD projector can set you back quite a bit more, The H5360 I got for R5,999 and picture quality is amazing.

The Acer H5360 is also 3D capable but you need to hook it up to a PC with nVidia 3D technology. There is a newer model that I am considering upgrading to that supports 3D directly (just plug your 3D Blu-Ray player straight in).

I hope this helps you. Just don't dismiss a good projector for a TV until you have seen it. After all, you don't go to the cinema to watch a movie on a big screen TV :)

Both the Acer H5360 and H5360BD are 3D capable. The H5360 cannot handle a 3D source directly though. You need something like a nVidia 3D Vision PC to supply the signal, The H5360BD can take a 3D Blu-Ray player straight.
I currently have the H5360. Later the H5360BD was released and am now considering upgrading to it. I am so over dedicated home theater PC's, so would prefer to get the H5360BD and supply content direct from the blu-ray player.

Here is a pretty decent vid of the kind of picture you can expect. Take note how nice and bright the picture is. I have no issues using this during the day with curtains and windows open.

Well i can settle this plasma vs led tomorrow :D. Well settle it for me.

Getting a 46" samsung led 9.5k. The jvc 42" plasma is good but the picture for anything but movies is not great. It's a bit fuzzy for gaming which has annoyed me no end.

On the projector side if you are setting up a media room, you gotta go with a projector. Gaming i dunno hey my projector is not too great for FPS, for console games where spotting someone's head sticking out from 400m is not essential it works well.

I only play FPS on my projector. Very clear. Picture is awesome.

I trust you are at least grabbing the one that's true 120hz and not software ones, or those that's not. So far all the specials I've seen was on the 5 series and downwards which means 120 software hz down to 60hz :sick:

Then I'd rather go for plasma...

It's the samsung UA465500, as far as i know hdmi can only do 60hz. It has 100hz motion and crystal clear technology something the plasma badly lacks but we will see, going to pick it up sometime today.

No, it's 50Hz, with 100Hz CMR - marketing gimmick to pretend it's 100Hz.

Honestly, I feel it's a bit of a waste at almost R2k more than the LA46D550.

But it's LED......

Anyhoo.

5 Series = true 50/60Hz
6 Series = true 100/120Hz
6400 Series = true 200/240Hz
etc.

TV marketing can do that. Really incredible it even dupes somewhat informed dudes. :D
 
I am not informed at all, i have no idea what 100hz motion even means in all honesty. I am just quoting off the website.

I think it helps with the motion lag most lcd's suffer with.
