Which side are you? ...

Well I don't really see any difference between my Cat spamming Claw and a Ravager spamming Gore.
Same focus cost.
I'd rather pick the pet I want at 70 and level with it so I can avoid all the current retardation with regard to Loyalty and pet leveling which is pain in the buttocks at 70.

@ Shogun... they are very very close tbh. The ravager pulls ahead slightly on overall damage, but at a price, my cat had better survivability than my ravager.
Ravager is just a bit more squishy, cats I also found to be more focus conservative if you compare both of the focus dumping abilities claw vs gore.
Ravager needs more healing, where the cat just makes a better grinding pet ... well for me at least.

I know big things are happening to the pets once the expansion comes out... and we are getting 2 additional stable slots so it will be cool to have multiple pets :)

I picked up a ravager from the netherwing mines when they became tameable.

The loyalty grind isnt too bad, its the XP grind I hate! Least in WOTLK, if you tame a level 5 pet when your level 70, it will be boosted to level 65 (5 levels below you) :D

If so then I want that rare spawn white Bear near Iron Forge

I currently have a lvl 37 hunter, and im gonna be pushing him for arena. What sort of pet should i go for when i get to outlands? Ive pretty much had a cat since lvl 10

I did the same on a mates Hunter but I like the look of the Hellfire Ravagers more.

I'll do what I normally do and try both. I've had Steve (my cat) since I learnt Tame and he's been a good lil Tank for me till now.
I tried a Scorpid briefly when I got one for Claw 5 and I really liked the Scorpid Poison stacking but against a normal mob it dies so quickly you never build a full stack so IMO Claw worked out better.

I'll grab a Ravager when i hit Hellfire and play a bit. If i find I have issues I'll switch back.

Is your Hunter still on TH?
Wondering cause then you can join me and a friend on TH lvling hunters blast in BG :).

Yea, still twink'd but lvl'd to lvl 34 :o

Think the char name is Varkbal - THW

Well first eva character was a human rogue but didnt get passed lvl 15. First Main lvl 70 char was Nelf Hunter.

Iv had a Human Lock which only got to lvl 33
Then came a troll MAge which is still lvl 24 lol:eek:
Then can a Nelf Warrior which i took to 70 and was my main

Now on another server HORDE and got a lvl 52 Tauren Druid which is my main now as im sick of playing alliance

ROFL,

alliance, NE warrior. Dont know why I picked that, she just looked the hottest I guess. Cant tell you how many times that 1% dodge has saved my ass... but seriously, the shadowmeld is good for while you are eating in enemy territory, other than that the NE racials are useless.

heh, dodge does nothing for a nelf hunter :(

Ive yet to master the FD -> shadowmeld -> eat/drink macro, its insane for pvp

Porn and Werries, thx for the replies.

I'm still a nub 40 Hunter but I've been doing a lot of reading and looking around but never really found anything to convince me that Windserpent is better.

I'm sticking with my Cat till I hit Outland due to the gap where there are no pets you can Tame to learn certain lower Ranks of Gore.

I was asking more out of curiosity at this point since I like to plan ahead :P

Sorry to battlerez an old cow thread out of the ashes... Shogun I thought you would like to see some figures.

I took some WWS stats last night in SWP to compare just how a ravager would do against a windserpent... Lemme know if you want me to PM them to you.

One of the hunters in my guild pitched up last night with his windserpent, and was convinced a windserpent is way better than a ravager. Anyway, being too much of a theory crafting nut, I still backed my opinion about a ravager p0wning.

On a straight out nuke fest with a pet chowing away the whole time without ever being pulled out of action... One one boss, the ravager came out tops with a 12337 lead in damage. Gear levels were slightly to my disadvantage since the other hunter had better stats + more crit. And thats one boss fight... imagine a whole nights raiding.

I <3 my little Norris Ravager. :D

Ooo, yes please.
I've switched back to my Ravager after toying with a WS for a while.
My Crit is still a bit shy of the WS mark but I just wanted to see what they like before they get shot to hell in Wrath (Ravagers too for that matter).

I hit 70 a while back and I'm actually playing my Hunter now more then my Priest, particularly for Retro Raids and it's nice to not have to worry about CD timers all the time.

O yeah and my Ravager is called FreudisRight :P

Hehehehe !!! awsome... ok you got PM :)
Glad to see you enjoying your hunter... I love the damn class.

I already have my macro prepared for Wrath.
The sight of a Large Red Angry Corehound getting Larger and Redder while his owner yells "You Are Seared!" is high on my list of "things-that-i-did-in-patch-3.0.2"

I'm a sucker for lava :P

Yup... from what I have been reading and comparing initial dps reports.
If you don't have exotic pet talent, the raptor will be the new no1 dps pet... and if you have exotic pet talent... the Devilsaur + Corehound will be the new bad boys to have. ;)

I think the Devilsaur will likely pip the Corehound since that 9% increase is pretty huge if u can keep it up over a long fight (and it looks like Pets will gain Hit from their owners, which will make that easier) but Corehounds still look cooler and they're going to make molesting Casters even easier.

**nod** Not too mention that cool doef doef sound it makes when you walk with that big boy next to you. Hehehe...

Yea I will certainly try and have both as pets. :D
