Which tablet?

Hi everyone
I want a tablet either Ipad 3 or Samsung Galaxy but need to know few things about each before I will be using it for reading ebooks,emailin,typing reports on the go,surfing the net using my vodacom 3G and sometimes 8ta,watching movies,listening to music on the go,taking pics,which tablet is best for the above functions? The documents i'll be typing I will be sending them to people who use microsoft office suits,help me make the right choice,I here Ipad use unusual sim card,I here it does'nt have PC Suit,I hear it does't have bluetooth,I hear it cannot receive anything from different device,help me with clarity,I am a business man travelling alot,polokwane joburg,joburg polokwane if that will help making accurate recommendation.

Hmmm.

iPad - many disadvantages, some listed in OP (microsim, no microSDXC, iTunes, etc)

Samsung - great tablets but software support mediocre. I won't buy one again.

Asus - great tablets, great software support, microSDHC slots, but 3G models rare.

Nexus 7 & 10 - great tablets, great software support, no microSDHC, no 3G

Motorola Xoom - a bit dated (wrt display), but great tablet, great software support, microSDHC, 3G available.


Difficult, I would just get an Asus TF700T with a mifi router for internet (Huawei E586, etc).

Sounds like you need a laptop, the current tablets normally doesn't just allow you to plug in your "vodacom 3g" modem and off you go... BTW what do you want to do with PC Suit?

Wife wants to buy the Kobo E-reader at PnP.
Told her might as well get an el cheapo android tablet with wifi no 3G needed. Then she can read, facebook etc...just the basic stuff. Oh and skype.
Which one can work for her, remember I have to pay for it!

I have the Nexus7 as e-reader, although its "retina quality" clear display, its definitely not nicer than a Kindle (especially in bright light situations) for reading. I can only imagine that a cheap Android tablet will be even worse since the display is not even crisp.

Hmm at Jola thnk you for that thorough suggestion,I guess my doubts on Ipad have been proven to be correct,I'll go and get netbook atleast with it I can do almost everything my laptop does,was looking for sth small yet stylish but tablet will be ridiculous expense,thanx again @all beside cerebos thank you for your input

Why not try 2nd hand, there are plenty iPad 2's out there for bargain price.

Do not get a cheapo tablet. The lowest you should be willing to go is the Nexus7. I read a huge amount on the iPad, but the screen is of a sufficient quality that the experience is pleasant.

They'll be able to read any format. That's not the problem. The quality of the screen and the smoothness of the page rendering is going to be critical as to whether she can use it. You need to get hands on time with it to see if it's going to be a good experience for her.

A bit tough atm, travelling around rural eastern cape for next two weeks.
So will rely on mybb users experiences with the available tablets out there.
This way I can narrow down and when back home I can go test driving and buy.
She says I'm dragging my feet, I can buy online and she can have it home this week. Women!!!

Ok well the only tablet I'll ever recommend on a lower budget is the Nexus 7. The 32gb can be had from certain sources for R2995, and if you search around you should get the 16gb for cheaper.
