Hi Guys,

After waiting 2 weeks now for my s6, I have decided to look into the note 4 as an alternative, and it compares tit for tat with the s6.

Now I have reached a stage where I dont know what to choose.

Any suggestions on which way I should lean.

I do understand that either way is a win, but I want the best win :)

Note 4. But I am biased. I have been missing my Note 2 big time since I sold it a couple years back...

Note 4.
Used S6 for 2 days and back to Note 4,it's a great phone but size and battery life was a problem for me.

Note 4 - Started with Note 2 , now Note 4 and will never go back to a smaller screen

It depends on your preferences.

Do you want a phone with long battery life, and the option of switching to a different battery in seconds?
Do you want a phone that has more storage space than something from the late 90's, especially considering the MASSIVE amount of space Touchwiz eats up?
Do you want to be able to actually make use of the huge display on your phone, and not just have a smaller phone that's been sent through a copier and enlarged?
Do you want to be able to accurately click on small things or use handwriting or drawing anytime, ever?
Do you want a smartphone that actually works like a smartphone should, and is flexible?
Do you want a phone that has its headphone jack at the top, as nature intended, instead of the massive pain in the ass of having to flip the phone upside down all the time?

If your answers to any of the above are yes, especially the bold part, get a Note 4. If your answers to ALL of the above are "No, I just want something shiny to show off, I don't even know how to send an SMS on my R 10k+ phone", get an S6 or an iPhone.

I had the same tough choice. The SPEN done it for me. Even if you use it a few times a month.

Well said!!!

Wow!

This is a hands down victory for the note - not a single attempt to defend the S6.

Not something i was expecting, but my choice is made.

Thanks guys

If you use the SPen. Get the note.
If you don't use the SPen, get the S6edge.

Both devices have a great screen, speed and everything else. It all depends on what you use your phone for.

thanks fanie

the thing is i have never had a note device so i have not delved into the realms of the spen.

I have read that MOST who have note devices hardly use the spen anyway - which then questions its actual added value

Honestly, I've had both devices.

Battery Life: Note 4 will kick ass. But the S6 is not half as bad as the media makes it out to be. Very decent, better than the S5's battery, even though it's smaller, with more power hungry internals. Just shows you what some optimizations can do. If you want to keep the S6 forever, you might have a problem with replacing the battery. But the S6 have fast charging. And not the Note 4's fast charging, it's SUPER fast, like seriously. It charges wirelessly about as fast as the Note 4. O yes, wireless. Built in madafaka!

Screen: Both have a fantastic screen, S6 screen is a little better just because of the size, the PPI goes up. If you get the edge, even better. The curved edges gives the illusion of an edge to edge screen on the sides.

Build Quality: S6 hands down. Not that the theirs anything wrong with the Note 4's build, the S6 just made it better. The Note 4 felt good in hand when I first upgraded from the S5, but the S6 just so much more. Because of the thin sides it also feelz like the phone is a lot thinner than what it really is.

Size: Bigger is better? Sometimes. But sliding the S6edge into my pocket is soooo much easier, and taking it out while sitting down. But if you use your phone for gaming... get the Note 4.

Software: The S6's touchwiz is better the Note 4, it has a themeing engine, if that's important to you... buttery smooth (even more than the note 4)

Storage: The Note 4 was a 32GB, and I had a 32gb sd card. Now I have a 64gb phone. Internal storage is sooo much faster than the SD card.

Camera: How do you make a awesome camera better? No idea, but they did it with the S6. So fast, so lightweight, so good in the dark.

Anything else you want to know, just ask me. Someone who have owned both phones ;)

thanks fanie

The SPen really is a technological marvel. It really is. I won't get another table which does not have a SPen. The Note 4 is nice and big, but can't actually be used for proper note taking (like in meetings), it's just too small for that. So keep that in mind.

Is the S6 really worth the entry fee atm? I don't think so. And the 4k more for the Edge...

Yes, price is another consideration. If money is an issue, get the Note 4. One can pick up two second hand ones for the price of a new edge

So I went cruising the malls to get a feel for the phones in hand (I signed the papers without even doing this).

Let me say, I am a practical, logical person and very level headed
I have rubbished all the reviews and literature on the edge device, and actually signed up for the non edge device because they both provide more or less the same functionality, but let me tell you guys, hold the edge in your hand and ...

you have to have it!!! . (Period)

fanie in other words - I know what you mean
time to get my contract changed to the edge

Exactly what happened to me. Went for the flat, came back with the edge.

Enjoy it! :D
