Heh, yea I know this is the whisk(e)y thread after all. I was looking for something around the R500 mark that will do good for a daily driver so Luben's recommendation is perfect. Plus I'm curious to see how Rye is different from the corn stuff I drink now when making Old Fashioned drinks :)

Hello. Glad to see a fellow rye fan. Some people can find it a bit harsh. I like a rye forward bourbon.

Haven't tasted it yet and not in the budget, but one of the few rye whiskies I've seen locally.

If you can get your hands on Knob Creek 100% rye or wild turkey 100% rye, they are both excellent. Friend brought them in when visiting from Canada.

I love the Sazerac rye. I tried the Knob Creek 100% rye at WhiskyBrother and it's delicious!!! Sadly we don't get either the Knob Rye or the Wild Turkey Rye in SA.

You wouldn't happen to have been one of the guys present at the WB Shop Bourbon/Rye tasting in July would you?

Nope, last tasting I went to at WB was the Glen Scotia one and then I attended TOWS at end of July.
 
New Ardbeg addition to their core range on the way. A 19 yo single malt called Traigh Bhan and its first permanent age-stated whisky to be released in nearly 20 years. The whisky will be available in limited batches produced on an annual basis.

The first batch of Traigh Bhan will be released in September, priced at £169 and available from specialist stores worldwide.

It was good. Never tried any Glen Scotia prior and i was pleasantly surprised. I checked to see if there were any new tasting events posted on WB website but they only had member's nights. I must go check again.

For that price they could at least have made it cask strength...57% and up.

There's this at Bottega as well, my first rye and enjoying it :thumbsup:

Looks like the usual offerings but I'm still going. I've had the Glendronach 21 previously but I want to try it with a clean palette. It's been awhile since I've had Jura so it would be nice to re-visit the range.
