I dont see how VAT69 can be on that list......
I have the Ardbeg10 and Lagavulin16. Both awesome.
Ardbeg wins it for me

Yeah. There's obviously a ton of whiskies that would kick VAT 69s arse, but its inclusion is probably to show its a good bet among the blends in that price range such as Bells and Grouse.

VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky: £18.99

£18.99 is about R400, yet it sells for about R100 here.

Someone's getting ripped off

Massive sin taxes in the UK. Glenfiddich 12yo is 2 to 3 times the price over there compared to here.

Sure. But VAT 69 is priced at the same level as Bells etc over there. It is priced very low here compared to the other similar level blends.

So keen to try this, need to find time to get to Makro. Anyone try it as yet?

After some Googling, I found the following information: in 2013 James released 3500 bottles from stout barrels as an experiment.

That experimental release was only available in Ireland, and courtesy of the Mrs, I happened to get one of those bottles :)

Of the original 3500, there are very few left, with some fetching up to 200 pounds!!!

After seeing the success of this experiment, they have now done a 'production' release, which is the one all markets are getting.

Would be interesting to see how the original batch compares to the production release.
