Slowly discovering more whiskeys. My problem is the heavier the peat the less I enjoy it. But... Peat is slowly growing on me.

Can anyone suggest a nice 'light peat' whiskey?

Original Black bottle. You're in Cape Town, Aficionados still has some old stock.

Did the recipe change or just the bottle design?

I have to admit I know nothing about Black Bottle but at the CT whisky live event last month, I tried some and loved it. I've been on the lookout for it ever since but no luck so far. Not out here in Hermanus anyway.

If you read the reviews on master of malt then there is supposed to be a difference between the old and the new bottle.

I've only had the old one. Might just take a chance on a new one at some point.

Checkers liquor (Rustenburg) sold the old black bottle, about November last year for R149 . Bought everything - 5 bottles. Don't bother with the new black bottle, it's just to sweet. Then again I prefer the more smoky and peated whiskies.

quite bleak, the Cardhu and the Laphroaig that I wanted were sold out at the only Checkers we have in Stellenbosch.

consolation prizes: Glenlivet and Singleton.

Highlands park is Orkney Peat, very different from Islay peat. Highland park is an awesome whisky as will.

Sure. I don't think he was asking for Islay specifically. He was just asking for light peat and this is a cracker imo. I don't know a lot about Islay otherwise as I don't generally buy smokey malts and if I do it's Laphroaig 10 yo.

So much whisky, so little time and money to try them all.

And I never believed that's there's a **** whisky until I tested some Australian whisky. Not all are bad but there some stuff that I could bring myself to finish.

I tried a Danish one once. It was nearly black in colour, absolutely terrible.

Been running between work and the home the entire day so I haven't been able to pour a drink as yet.

I did get a chance to get to checkers though and I didn't keep to the 3 bottle limit. The highlights are:
Ben Nevis 19 year old, private barrel range
Glen grant 17 yeast old, private barrel range, the first bottle was so good, nice full bodied Whisky for winter.
Private barrel no. 41, 12 year old single malt, no Provence.
Glen Scotia 15 year old
Glen Scotia double barrel

And a couple bottles of easy drinking stuff. Will open something when the kids get to bed.

Keen hear how the Glen Scotia 15 is. Was also keen to try the Loch Lomond Single malt but couldn't find stock.
