I've had the sinlge grain and the reserve, both VERY nice snd easy drinking whiskies. Have yet to try the signature.

I'm keen to try their single malt as well, but I've been struggling to find it in stock.

Glenmorangie Milsean

Glenmorangie Milsean (Scots Gaelic for ‘sweet things’ and pronounced ‘meel-shawn’) is a single malt whisky full of intense candied fruit flavours and mouth-watering sweetness. It has been created from Glenmorangie matured in ex-bourbon casks and then extra-matured in former wine casks, re-toasted for the purpose. This distinctive cask preparation replicates something of the moreish sweetshop flavours in a single malt whisky.

It is the seventh annual release in our multi-award-winning and always intriguing Private Edition range. And Glenmorangie Milsean, with its remarkable sweetshop allusions, may be the most intriguing of them all.

Aroma: Perfumed, sweet and spicy with hints of sugar cane, ripe fruits, sherbet lemons and fudge

Taste: A sweet, luscious candy-like flavour followed by a mix of tart plummy fruit, candied orange peel, cherries, and angelica.

Finish: Long and spicy, but always with a sweetness in the background, with flavours of ginger, brown sugar, sweet tobacco and cake mix.

saw this update from Distell on LinkedIn just now:

We’re proud to announce that our locally produced Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky has been awarded the World Whisky Trophy ,the highest honour at the International Spirits Competition (ISC) held recently in London. Bain’s is one of only three whiskies in the category, which featured many international brands, to have been bestowed a trophy.

Anyone tasted Powers?
I heard it's a step up from Jameson.
Hard to find in stores.
Takealot has it for R299.

Oh yes forgot.

Was in Calitzdorp a few weeks ago at Boplaas Cellars.

morkhans should know their brandy :)

Anyway did the brandy tasting which included one the their pet projects ....

Not the best Whisky (also kindly clashes after drinking brandy), but something pretty rare.

Can anyone comment on Teacher Highland Cream?

I'm in Zambia and it's by far the cheapest whisky in Pick n Pay. Like R145 a bottle whereas the next cheapest is the no name stuff like C&J at R200 :wtf:

I'm going to buy some obviously, just wondering if anyone drinks it regular or has a comment on it?

I have been drinking it the last month, been through about 4 bottles now and I really enjoy it considering the price.

I find it fairly easy to drink neat or with 1 block of ice. Its not too creamy but the creamy taste does present itself lightly

Nice one. I'll pick up a couple of bottles tonight :)

Oh, what do you pay for a bottle?

Yeah the club noticed that just about every whisky shot up by R50 or R100 over the last few months after the new sin tax. Definitely wasn't just the marginal increase was a round up to the nearest R50/R100 increase...bastards.

The R/£ changed in our favour in the last 2 weeks, but I doubt it we will see it on the shelves :-(
