Love me some Ardbeg!
Surely! Ardbeg's the only "peaty" single malt that I'd buy for myself (so far) and enjoy on occasion.
You should try the other Islay malts.

Favourite Irish: Greenore 8yr
Favourite single malt: Macallan Amber
Favourite weekender: Tullamore Dew
Favourite bourbon: Jeremiah Weed
Seconded! Except maybe Bunnahabhain, personally not a fan of their releases.
Going back a couple of pages here... Apologies
What is jeremiah weed like?
Tried the bunanhabunnaba... not impressed. Ardbeg's coffee note gets my vote
^Gentleman Jack or the Single Barrel?
Old no. 7, Gentleman and the Single Barrel.
For me, Gentleman sure has a beautifull aroma to it, and is smoother than its predecessor. For R70 price jump, I'd take it any day over old no. 7. (if you drink brandy, compare it to a KWV 5 yo vs 10).
Single Barrel is even moreso smooth and you can really smell the toasted oak (some appreciate whilst others despise it). The finish is no different to that of the gentleman jack though, which is a shame. My other gripe with it is the price; I don't think it's worth +R400.
Overall, I'd take the Gentleman over the other two, simply due to it's value for money.
Lovely stuff. It's my absolute favourite whisky. I'd take this over JW Blue anyday. I've had the Glenmorangie Lasanta as well. Perfect as a dessert whisky. I'm also a huge fan of the Laphroaig.

Must make a plan to have a taste...also heard good things about the Laphroaig
I'm getting tucked into a litre of 12 year old Glenfiddich and boy I forgot how delish this stuff is.
Everytime I drink it the first thing that comes to mind is hospital.
Very very nice
Got a 12yr Glenmorangie waiting for a special occasion. How do the 2 differ on taste? Am still new to this
Takes a while for the oxidation to cause the iodine flavour to go away. Drink a quarter of the bottle and forget about it in a cupboard for 9 months.
